What is the policy for book titles in foreign languages? In particular, should Russian titles be entered in Cyrillic or transliterated into Latin alphabet?

I'm currently inclined towards the former. I was planning on editing the transliterated titles on all Russian books in my collection to Cyrillic. Good idea or bad idea?

I don't know the official answer, but I personally think you could use the Cyrillic alphabet. But as a librarian who can't read anything you enter like that, I would kind of like to see an English translation in parentheses so that I know which English title (if any) your books could be combined with.

What about having the English translation of the title in the title sort field?

I'm not sure how the sort field will show up on the combine books page. If the sort field is used on the combine books page, than it will work fine.

Otherwise, having the English translation in parantheses is much easier, IMO.

I agree, and it does seem to be the usual practice (to the degree that we have one) to have the translated title followed by the English title in parenthesis. Things in the sort field are not viewable anywhere but the book edit page, I believe.
