Lisa Moose (lkmoose) | 4 comments I'm a high school teacher who teaches English and reads constantly! (although I do have a weakness for some of the "Real Housewives" shows :(( Since school ended, early this June, I've read "The Art of Fielding" and "The Language of Flowers" and "13 Reasons Why". I can't quite get used to reading on the ebook, but I love that you can read at night without an extra lamp on!

Harry Potter is my love :) Vampire Diaries, Hunger Games, Alyson Noel, Jonathan Friesen, and Pretty Little Liars are also some of my favorites. Mine, too! But I really haven't written anything yet, so you're ahead of me.

Kaley | 2 comments Natalie wrote: "My goal is to write at least one full-length novel, and have people actually read it!"
I suppose I'm ahead of the game on that one... :D
My friends and I are all writing our own novels, but I get distracted easily by shiny things, and I have trouble finishing what I've started.
Also, I enjoy writing fanfiction as well.

Ravenousreader28 | 1 comments Hello Everyone, My name is Taneka and I luckily happened to find this group while signing my 7 and 2 year old up for the Summer Reading group. I've been into reading dystopia fiction since reading George Orwell's 1984 back in high school. Recently, I've read the Divergent Series (can't wait for book 3), the Hunger Games, and the Matched series. I'm also into reading paranormal fiction (Twilight series, Big Bad Wolf series, Fallen series), historical fiction novels like Pillars of the Earth and Bernard Cornwell's books, and fantasy novel (Harry Potter, Chronicals of Narnia, Xanth Novels). I just finished reading Emily Giffin's Heart of the Matter (as a beach book) and I am looking for something new to read, preferably something not containing a love triangle (I'm a bit sick of them right now :) If anyone has any suggestions on a good book to read (regardless of genre) I'd love to hear it.

message 58: by Saadiq (new)

Saadiq Shaik Hello everyone. I'm Saadiq. I'm an avid reader and I usually enjoy classics, but I'm open to a variety of other genres such as fantasy and science fiction. I also read nonfiction as well. I am proud to join this group and share my passion for books along with you all.

message 59: by Anne (new)

Anne | 1 comments Hi everyone - My name is Anne. I am a part-time attorney and full-time mom. I love to read, especially non-fiction and literary fiction. I am not into anything with vampires, zombies, etc. I have just started Faith by Jennifer Haigh and also am reading Behind the Beautiful Forevers.

message 60: by Julia (new)

Julia (julia103) | 1 comments Hello,
I'm Julia. I read different genres of fiction: mystery, fantasy, s-f (mostly space opera), and historical novels. Occasional non-fiction, mostly around women's history or gay/lesbian issues. I'm usually reading one book as an ebook on my Sony reader and another as paper borrowed from the library.

message 61: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth | 22 comments Hey guys - there's only one more week left in summer reading, so get your comments on here so I can get you in the drawing.
Thanks!!

message 62: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1 comments Hi I'm Katie and i love reading different types of Fantasy books like The Iron Fey series, The Soul Seekers series,My Blood Approves series, and some drama books like Bittersweet. I usually like the book better than the movie like Twilight or The Hunger Games because they give you more detail and they leave things out in the movie. And when the books are so good i finish them within a couple days and stay up till 3am reading.

message 63: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Martin | 1 comments How long can we continue to add books?
and when is the drawing for the prize?

message 64: by Randhika (new)

Randhika Aturaliya (randhikaa) | 5 comments Hello everyone! I am Randhika, from Lutherville. I love fantasy books and dystopian books! I am currently in love with John Green books! I am currently reading "The Scorch Trials" by James Dashner.

message 65: by Anna (new)

Anna | 5 comments Hello all, my name is Anna and I read mostly non fiction now, though I occasionally browse through old favorites in fiction to find similar authors.
In non fiction I'm mostly in the science and art sections... and in fiction I'll read anything good. :) I tend to stay away from apocalyptic, supernatural or romancy stories... because I go for the stories that are more mysterious and less about action and lovelust.

I admit though, The Host was good.

message 66: by Randhika (new)

Randhika Aturaliya (randhikaa) | 5 comments Hello there! My name is Randhika, I am a socially awkward fifteen year old! My favorite genre of books would have to be fantasy, YA literature or anything written by Rainbow Rowell. I also am really fond of tv shows and various animes, which you will find me reblogging like crazy on Tumblr which is how I have been spending a majority of my summer along with reading and volunteering.
I guess that is all you need to know! Hope everyone has an exciting summer with books and other things!

message 67: by Anna Louise (new)

Anna Louise Kallas Hi, I'm Anna Louise. I am a book nerd and always have been one. I love reading everything and recently started reading more poetry and non-fiction. I always pick a classic to read over the summer months. This summer I'm reading "War and Peace". Looking forward to hearing about other readers. :)

message 68: by Gracie (new)

Gracie Reyes Hello lovelies!
I am Gracie. I love to read fiction books, like fantasy, page turners, thrillers. I often skim books depending on my level of interest, it's been awhile since I've actually read a whole book without skipping a long drooling paragraph or two. I'm hoping to find that one book that I can fall in love with again xD

You can check out all my awesome shelves. I've been a member of Goodreads for awhile now. Thanks for reading this ;)

Looks like I will find some great recommendations from you! I read Matched, and loved that series. I have Divergent on my reading list. You might enjoy Legendby Marie Lu.

message 75: by Krystal (new)

Krystal (copperandonyx) | 15 comments Hello, I'm Krystal. I love to read. I read anything and everything. I keep a book in my car in case I'm ever stuck with nothing to do. And in my livingroom. And my bedroom. And at work. Currently reading Horns by Joe Hill, the first Game of Thrones book and the Book Thief. How does the book shelf work? Is it made up of everyone's reading lists or do we add what we are reading?

Thanks and happy reading!!

Hi Elizabeth! I read the Road and cast it as one of my all time top ten. I hope you love it as well.

Dusty Bibliophile | 3 comments Hello. Go ahead and call me Dusty. I'm hoping to find some interesint book and/or story generated discussions.

message 79: by Erik (new)

Erik | 2 comments Hi all. Generally a fan of SF/fantasy and history. Bur for some reason, I've got a fair amount of chick lit and those cheesy and incredibly overdone teen vampire novels :) on my list too.

message 80: by Hannah (new)

Hannah My name is Hannah and I live right down the street from the North Point branch of the BCPL. I am an avid reader and was really excited to find that BCPL had a book group on Goodreads! I will be contributing with my reading all summer. I love historical fiction and nonfiction. I like biographies (if they are of the right person), I like travel stories, whether they are journals or real life accounts of what happened, I like paranormal stories that fall in to any of the above categories, and every once in a while I find myself reading a romance or two.

message 81: by Robyn (last edited Jul 12, 2014 08:17AM) (new)

Robyn | 6 comments Hi, Robyn here! It took me a while to find the group, but I'm glad I finally made it. During my latest weekly trip to the OM branch, one of the librarians asked if I was in the Goodreads group and led me to it. Like most of you, I am also a book nerd, and like pretty much any subject. DH and I retired a year ago and in between traveling and decluttering our house, I love having more time to read.

DH and I recently started reading James Patterson's Alex Cross thrillers (hubby's into Clancy, Cussler and Baldacci kind of stories, not my faves) and they are pretty quick, interesting reads. I am also a classic movie fanatic and have been trying to read the novels behind many great movies...some of my favorites have been Gentleman's Agreement, I Was a Prisoner on a Chain Gang (true story which led to major prison reform), All Quiet On the Western Front, and The Hunger Games series. I read the Divergent series too, but felt like the story was a bit contrived, it wasn't the best I've read, but another view of a dystopian society. There were elements to it that reminded me so much of Brave New World and 1984,two of my all time favorites.

If you see me in OM or Reisterstown, stop and say hi - I'll be the one carrying a ton of books to the checkout desk!I hope to get to know some of you personally, if that's at all possible - always looking for new friends!

Natalie, have you ever heard of National Novel Writing Month? It's in November, I believe - one of our sons-in-law has participated many times. The goal is to challenge yourself to write a novel in a month's time and there are some wiring groups that form in communities where people can get together - IKEAs and Starbucks, I believe. Midnight Circus is a book that was written during a NaNoWriMo....maybe you will fulfill your goal that way too. Good Luck!

message 83: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Bowers | 8 comments Hi, I'm Jennifer, living in Mali, West Africa, but born and raised in Parkville. When I'm in the States, I live in W. Baltimore and frequent the Arbutus library.
I enjoy sci-fi, mysteries, quality fiction, historical fiction -- really most anything. I loved the Hunger Games and enjoyed Divergent, but am so tired of dystopian literature.
I read most of my books on my Nook b/c I can borrow them from BCPL, even from so far away.

message 84: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (mngensor) | 7 comments Hello all. I'm Melissa, a housewife who loves to knit. I mostly tend to read science fiction/fantasy but I tend toward the paranormal specifically and I love graphic novels. Right now I'm re-reading Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series. Lately I can usually be found at the Hereford branch twice a week working on a knitted blanket while my daughter works her volunteer shift at the SRC table.

message 85: by Laura (new)

Laura | 4 comments Hi all, I've gotten into dystopias lately. Reluctantly, I read (actually listened to) the Hunger Games trilogy. I then went through the Divergent trilogy but after the end I had to take a break. I'm listening to a quirkily series about a PI/Grim Reaper character named Charlie Davidson. It's funny, bits of sarcastic, science fiction, paranormal. It's just something to take your mind off the everyday usual for that 'could you imagine if' kind of story. Happy Reading

message 86: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin Buchanan (lostjulietinsilence) | 2 comments Hi My name is Caitlin and I love reading alot of things, but mostly it is fiction because I like to get lost outside of this world that we live in. I just wish that there were more hours in the day so that I could read more.

message 87: by Stacey (new)

Stacey | 1 comments I'm Stacey, and I have a fierce book addiction. If I'm not reading a book, I'm listening to one. I like things with twists and turns. My favorite author is Liane Moriarty. I loved all of her books. I wish there were more! I also enjoy Gillian Flynn and Jojo Moyes.

message 88: by Taney (last edited Jun 29, 2015 09:48AM) (new)

Taney (IcYuNvMe) | 1 comments Hey Everyone! My name is Taney and I work at the BCPL! I mostly enjoy reading African American Fiction. But recently I have been trying to broaden my spectrum and step out of the box. I'm interested in reading anything that will keep my attention with lots of twist and turns. And by the end of the book have my mouth wide open LOL. So if there are some interesting reads that portray these characteristics then please share! I am currently reading Animal by K'wan.

message 89: by Beth (new)

Beth Harper | 1 comments Hi everyone, I'm Beth! I'm making an effort to read more these days and am hoping this summer reading group will serve as inspiration/motivation! I enjoy reading classics (mostly modern but trying to reach further back), the beats, creative non-fiction like Hunter S. Thompson and Tom Wolfe, random non-fiction that piques my interest (usually lifestyle, music, or art related), and contemporary light-hearted fiction. Nice to 'meet' you all!

message 90: by Karen (new)

Karen (moonfairy86) | 2 comments Hello everyone! I'm Karen, and I enjoy reading almost any book. My favorite genres are Mystery, Romance, Horror, Paranormal, Historical, Young Adult, Non-Fiction (mainly Biographies), and some of the Classics such as Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, and Sense and Sensibility.
I've recently fallen in love with a TV show, Murdoch Mysteries (original title in Canada; The Artful Detective in the U.S.) and discovered that the characters are based off of a book series by Maureen Jennings. Needless to say, I'm planning to read the series before the end of summer. Cheers and happy reading to all :)

message 91: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (teresitac78) | 8 comments Hi, I'm Theresa. I mostly read young adult fiction, but I am starting to get into Christian literature. I am a former teacher and hope to someday become a librarian.

message 92: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissadagostino) | 50 comments Hello! I nearly forgot to input my books to the Summer Reading Program this year! Whew, I made it in under the wire. So, my apologize that I just added a whole bunch at once. But it's been a great summer of reading! I'm a librarian at Cecil College, but live in (and love!) Perry Hall (which has, IMHO, the best branch of the BCPL!) Due to my long commute, I listen to a lot of audiobooks. At the beginning of the summer I was finishing up the "Series of Unfortunate Events", and then went into the "How to Train Your Dragon" series with a few autobiographies (Nick Offerman, Amy Poehler) sprinkled in there too. Otherwise, I read a lot of graphic novels and general fiction. Happy reading, everyone!
