Doug Beatty | 432 comments Today is the last day for the contractors to be in my house, so the bedroom should be done! Yay!

And I bought two new cookbooks. Everyday Food: Fresh, Fast, Flavorful: 250 Recipes for Easy, Delicious Meals All Day Long and Easy Japanese Cooking: Veggie Haven. Yum.

Fiona (fvgray) I just dropped our community spirit second-hand store and found The Wind's Twelve Quarters by Ursula K. Le Guin for just 40 pence! The sun is shining today, my daffodils are all bobbing their glorious heads and I picked up an unexpected bargain - a Fantastic Thursday!

Spring! The wild plum and dogwoods are blooming, trees budding and seeding, March winds and thunderstorms, the Mayapples are coming up, the distant woods have a green blush...

♥Laddie♥ (Lee Lee) It's grey here today but I've got a new email buddy. I love having email buddies!

That's cute! I don't have email buddie, but I have blog buddies."

It's hard to find good blogs but that's how I found this guy. Followed him on Blogspot and he emailed me after reading my blog. I was pretty surprised.

I wish Blogspot had a better way to search blogs.

Nancy | 2838 comments That's a great find, Fiona! I need to read more Ursula K. Le Guin.

It's a cool sunny day with hints of spring in the air, but it sure is slow getting here.

I've not yet moved into the world of Le Guin's short stories; I'm really looking forward to experiencing little hits of prose.

I've seen so many little lambs prancing around nearby hill farms during the past five days! For me their bleeting presence is a sure sign of spring. I hope you enjoy watching for signs of the new season where you are, Nancy.

Doug Beatty | 432 comments I have some great face book buddies.. Whom I would like to meet someday but probably never will.

Nancy | 2838 comments I don't have a blog or Facebook. Goodreads is the only place I hang out online and I'm happy I've made some wonderful friends.

Same here, and I utterly agree with you, Nancy! :)

Ahhh! I used to raise sheep. I miss the smell of wet wool and lanolin on my jeans. And, I really learned to grok 'wool-gathering'. They are so peaceful to watch.

I'm now in cattle country and the ranchers think sheep ruin the pasture (false!), but there a lot of new-born calves frolicking in the fields. All babies are cute!

I've been leaving books secretly at a couple of coffee shops downtown that have bookcases for magazines and newspapers. I put the books out, with some little note inside saying take me, I'm yours, or something similar, like Bookcrossings- then I have my coffee and read and watch. People are magnetically drawn to books! And I am getting over my bad character flaw of hoarding books.

Joyous! I love hearing about stuff like this, Sarah. Thanks for sharing - your happy talk, and of course your books! Do you leave any trace of your identity inside or is it an anonymous gesture? It would be so fantastic to come across one of your books in some far-flung location...like here in the U.K.!

The Bookcrossing group has a way you can register a book, leave track of where you release it- they call it "releasing into the wild" and then when anyone finds it, they can log onto the website and make a note. Books are logged then as they make their way around the world. I keep forgetting to log my books in; it's so much fun to just get them out there. I have put some of my own books out at the coffee shop that is gay friendly, since I write gay romances, and those I sign. My son goes with me- it's our weekend treat, and we get to go today! He gets a secret spy thing going, as he slips the books into the bookcases. We used to leave them other places, like the park, or restaraunts, but people were always chasing us down- "Wait, you forgot your book!"

Hey, Bookcrossers has a group here! Duh, it just occurred to me to look. Their logo is a little yellow book with arms and legs, and the group is Bookcrosser

I can hear how much fun you are both having!

I know that I would find similar enjoyment in doing something like this (however, I am just too much of a bibliophile!).

I celebrate what you are doing because you are giving books away independently, without codes and web addresses. Yes, I have heard about BookCrossing.com (although I have never actually come across a book that has been 'released') but what I most like about your endeavour is your very personal touch!

Thanks for this! I'll take a look...
