Goodreads Librarians Group discussion

Hi - I'm Katherine Langrish, and my listed books (not out up be me) include a non-existent title, 'Devil's Edge'. The cover picture, however, is of my very-much-in-existence title, 'Dark Angels', for which 'Devil's Edge' was only the working title. The ISBN numbers are wrong, as well. When I try to change the title and ISBNs, I get error messages telling me I am not allowed to change them because:

What can I do? There is NO such book as 'Devil's Edge' and I would like to be able to show the details of 'Dark Angels'. help!

Katherine, it sounds like your publisher put out a preliminary notice for this book under the draft title and it was never updated by booksellers. Is this the correct edition list?

Was the book not released in hardcover under the Dark Angels title at all? Sometimes a publisher issues a preliminary ISBN for a title but then doesn't use it, so that could be what happened here.

No. It went straight into paperback, and the paperback ISBN is what i've been trying to use!

Okay, since you're sure it wasn't ever published in hardcover, I've separated the bad edition and marked it NOT A BOOK so it won't show up on your author profile. (You might want to talk to someone about getting the record off of Amazon!)

Dark Angels appears to be combined with your book The Shadow Hunt... You don't mention this above so I wanted to check whether this is an error or not before correcting it?

Thanks - it's effectively the same book, but they have different ISBN numbers. 'Dark Angels' is the UK paperback title; but the US edition was entitled 'The Shadow Hunt' (as HarperCollins US didn't like the English title) - and is hardcover.

Publishers just like to make things difficult ;-)
