Yes - the alternate spellings in your post are fine Lindy.

Everyone will probably continue marking names off through to the end of October even if they don't win Lindy so only stop early if you want to...

Sandra | 4260 comments Lindy wrote: "I was confirming the name Adriana was in Quicksilver, since I saw it on the library list."

Lindy, I re-read Quicksilver the other day just to verify Adriana for some other members. As AQ is one of my favourite authors it wasn't a hardship.

So if you want to use it, please go ahead and enjoy the book.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I plan on going to the end even if I'm not the first. Just to see if I can do it.

I am down to Cooper and Mckenna, does anyone have them, hopefully"

Lindy, I am past 200 pages in Hell's Gate: A Novel, and no Hudson yet. Will he be making an appearance soon?

message 1255: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments yay I found a Jeremiah ;) he's in one of the short stories in Wild & Steamy

message 1256: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I just did an Amazon search out of curiosity and it gav 0 results for Hudson.

(I love that Amazon/googlebooks search option available on most books-it's really helpful)

message 1257: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I think there might be a mix up with HEll's Gate - the guy's name is Hunter

message 1258: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 2581 comments I just finished reading it, and there is no Hudson. But I thought Lindy mentioned a hudson in this book. Anyways, it was a great book to read, I highly recommend it!

message 1259: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments thanks for the rec Hina - did you get any other names out of it?

message 1260: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 2581 comments I just need hudson to finish but there is a Hunter, Zoe for sure. I have to look at the book again, major headache is slowing my reading and now I can't remember.

message 1261: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments You nean Hudson is the only name you have left to read to hit 200? Or the only name you haven't found a book for yet?

What is the amazon/googlebooks search?

message 1263: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments if you go to google books, you can look up a title and then do a name search and it will highlight where in the book that name is found, if at all

message 1264: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 2581 comments Mary wrote: "You nean Hudson is the only name you have left to read to hit 200? Or the only name you haven't found a book for yet?"

Hudson is the only name I need to finish the boys names, all of 100.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Hope you feel better soon Hina.

message 1266: by Lacy (new)

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments Thanks Mary!

message 1267: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments hina - apparently Never a Bride has a hudson in it - using google books I found the name mentioned 40+ times...and I think it was a freebie for kindle a while ago, because i'm showing it in my records and don't remember getting it - which means my mom grabbed it when she got the freebie email

message 1268: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments It's not full proof but it saved me from reading a few books where it was really a last name, wrong sex or not in the book enough.

I think I have about 160 names done about even boys/girls. I haven't crossed many names off the last few weeks so I might have to start actually using the lists I made if I want to get them done in time.

message 1269: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments the character was referred to as hudson though, or did...so i'm going to assume its his first name

message 1270: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 2581 comments Dee wrote: "hina - apparently Never a Bride has a hudson in it - using google books I found the name mentioned 40+ times...and I think it was a freebie for kindle a while ago, because i'm showin..."

Thanks Dee for looking up the book! But I started reading Witches of East End yesterday. It has a Hudson in it and I think Mary had mentioned it in a previous post.

message 1273: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Woohoo!

I loved Witches of East End. I used Molly from it too and I think a couple of others.

Hina if you don't think Molly counts, I have other Molly's. But I personally thought she was useable.

It's pretty good. It's a twist on Snow White. I kinda liked that, but I don't really like her writing. But it's worth the read. :D

NocturnalRavings(Jodie) (mistrissmoon) | 270 comments Angelfire (Angelfire, #1) by Courtney Allison Moulton Angelfire has Caden,Ellie,Landon and Nathaniel. There was a possibility of a Harper, but I don't think she qualified. :(

message 1279: by Joann (new)

Joann | 973 comments Not sure if this book has been mentioned yet - Senseless by Mary Burton. There's an Eva, Sara (Sarah), Josiah and Micah in it. The book is pretty good too :)

message 1280: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Jane - I was looking in the front but didn't see an answer to this question. Can we use aliases? I'm reading a book where the main character changes his name to Bryce for a while and sort of goes to jail under that name. Could I check that name off?

message 1281: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I allowed where they changed their name - either name is fine. I can't remember if I've been asked the alias question or not. Let me get back to you...

message 1282: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments OK - I got sick of looking through posts.

I'm sorry if I'm contradicting an earlier ruling of mine, but I'm going to allow aliases where that alias is used for a 'decent' length of time - not just a one-off jaunt. The character has to be clearly known by ppl as the alias.

message 1283: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments In this book, the main character goes by this alias for 6 months to a year (must be around 75-100 pgs of the book)...though he's a shut-in, the people that come to take him away know him by the alias.

I'll assume that qualifies as decent length of time and known as others as the alias.

message 1284: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Sounds good to me DG :)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments To the rest of us (the other participants) - please continue to mark off names and complete as much of this challenge as you would like. I will continue to monitor these two threads for any questions and general conversations :)

D.G. | 4477 comments Wow, Mojca! Congrats! I didn't think anybody was going to do it. :)

I'll be definitely keep tracking off the names until the end. Like with most other challenges, I like to see what I can do. :)

message 1288: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Congratulations! I though Hina would be the first one to finish.

I will keep up with it too. I spent too much time tracking down books to use for this to just stop now. I may not work as hard to acquire some harder to find books for some names I'm missing though. I have a few books on hold at the library just because they have names. I might cancel those and hope I get that name somewhere else.

~KarenH~ | 11348 comments Well, shoot! I looked at a book recently with Kira in it but didn't see it on the list so I didn't make a note of it. I didn't even think to check if there might be alternate spellings! Now I have no idea what book it was, and according to the pronouncenames.com site, it looks like Kira will work for Keira. grrrr!

ETA: Found it! It wasEternal Kiss of Darkness, and since I'm reading it for next month for a couple of other challenges anyway, I'm all better now! ;)

message 1293: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments So I start a book where the hero is named Zack, thinking that I have a sure name there. Well, it turns out that he's freaking name is Zachariah!

Grrr!!

message 1294: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments The hero in Hush is Zakary

message 1295: by Mojca (new)

Mojca | 1414 comments The hero in Run For Your Life is also Zachary (Zach for short).

message 1296: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments DG - I did the same thing too!!

message 1297: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments But if he is called Zack, then it should not be an issue, right? Or was I wrong?

message 1298: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments The name in the list is Zachary not Zachariah. Those don't sound at all alike so I cannot use the name.

No - the name has to match even though may use (for the most part) a shortened form. Minor spelling differences allowed so long as they sound the same) :)
