Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments well, she's a female pet and she routinely shows up throughout all the books in the series...it was worth a try...lol! i keep hoping she is going to turn out to be some kind of shifter or something

D.G. | 4477 comments Here's a Payton: Practice Makes Perfect.

I already read it but could that be read for Peyton?

message 154: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) If you're looking for the name Brooklyn, this book will work! It's YA, but was a quick read for me, and actually quite good.

Chasing Brooklyn  by Lisa Schroeder

Yes - that is fine - as long as she is female :)

Yup - the names sound the same...

D.G. | 4477 comments Jane (PS) wrote: "Yes - that is fine - as long as she is female :)"

Yup, she is. That's the heroine. :)

Julie James likes those formerly-thought-as-male-names for her heroines:
Taylor - 1st book
Payton - 2nd book
Cameron - 3rd book
Jordan - 4th book

ETA: Could we use Jordan for Jordyn?

message 159: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments And all her books are fantastic so anybody that hasn't read it and wants to for the challenge, it's in for a treat.

I'm planning to read #4 this month.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Good list DG. I might have to give 'contemporary' another go :)

message 161: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Should JJ's books be read in order or are they all stand alone books?

message 162: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Thanks for the tips ladies. I was missing a Peyton book so I will keep those in mind. I actually found a couple of female Jordan's in my TBR pile. I haven't looked for a Taylor yet.

I still haven't come across a single book with a female with a first name of Addison. I will be checking what people post to see if anyone comes up with one.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Can I use Rylie for Riley? I'm assuming yes but thought I'd check.

message 164: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments there is a female Jordan in Drawing in the Dust - IIRC, and it was an interesting read about archeology and Israeli history from a fiction standpoint

message 165: by Tania (new)

Tania | 644 comments Hey Jane - I've added two books to my challenge that I don't really know the page counts of (the joy of ereaders). On my ereader they both came in at over just over 150 pages but my ereader changes the numbers when I change the font size. They had the feel of novella's instead of a short story.

Is that okay? They're down on good reads as 0 pages.

They were Male Call (Sean) and Private Maneuvers (Mitch)

Please please say it's okay so I can have covers with hot military guys on the cover on my list :p

Gen (gen454) | 282 comments Can I use Aidan instead of Aiden, and Mackayla instead of Makayla?

(Because even if the names look alike, they make a different sound.)

message 168: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I pronounce them the same personally.

Great bods!! Can I pass this to Sandra for a page conversion?! (I'm hoping they are fine - because those boys are FINE!!)

I would have thought they sound pretty much the same as well. Because I pronounce them the same, they are fine :)

message 173: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments @ Mary - its about $4 cheaper is you buy direct from EC...they jack up their prices majorly on amazon

Tania | 644 comments Jane (PS) wrote: "Great bods!! Can I pass this to Sandra for a page conversion?! (I'm hoping they are fine - because those boys are FINE!!) ..."

I know! Aren't they purty... And yeah that's fine. I've added them to my list so I don't forget but if the ruling comes down that they don't count I'll remove them.

For those who haven't seen the covers...
Male Call (Hot Zone, #1) by Denise A. Agnew Private Maneuvers (Hot Zone, #3) by Denise A. Agnew

message 175: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I'm not an ebook fan so really any money for one is too much IMHO.

I'll save that as a last resort. If I get every other name filled and buying that gets me all the names then-maybe.

Wan (wanwaddell) | 2081 comments Question please -- Are these veriation okay?

Ashlyn = Aisling
Ellie = Elly
Isabelle = Isobel

Tylor = Ty

Linda (lindyk) | 4 comments I have kind of a silly question, how do you use the strikethough? I can not make it work the way I want it to. Thanks for your help!

The judgement has been made: Sorry Tania :( The professional opinion has Male Call at 70 - 100 pages, and Private Maneuvers at 85 - 130 pages.

Dang - they would have been good short reads ;)

message 183: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments OK am I pronouncing Aisling wrong? Because to me that sounds nothing like Ashlynn. I always pronounced Ay-sling. Or is one of those names like Siobhan which is pronounced nothing like it's spelled?

message 184: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Oh and I'm not complaining. The Aisling ruling really helps me. I have an Aisling book (Irish Moonlight by Kate Freiman). I do not own an Ashlynn book. So thanks for asking Wan!

message 185: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments OK would you take Alia for Aaliyah?

message 186: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Mary wrote: "OK am I pronouncing Aisling wrong? Because to me that sounds nothing like Ashlynn. I always pronounced Ay-sling. Or is one of those names like Siobhan which is pronounced nothing like it's spelled?"

My understanding is that it is often pronounced Ashlyn. When I read You Slay Me by Katie MacAlister, I thought early on it actually said how it was pronounced... My memory was along the lines of Ashlyn. Can anyone help on this? (My book has gone to the second hand store.)

The Wiki defn: Aisling is an Irish feminine given name meaning "dream" or "vision" ...

Variant forms of the name include Aishling, Aislin, Aislinn, Aislynn, Ashleen, Ashling, Eislinn and Isleen. Ashlyn and Ashlynn are used most often in the United States.

Pronunciation of the name varies. The most common pronunciation is /ˈæʃlɪŋ/ (ASH-ling); other forms acceptable to Irish speakers include /ˈæʃlɪn/ (Ash-lynn) and /ˈæʃliːn/ (Ash-leen).

I think there is enough scope to allow Aisling.

Yup = just checked: both names seem to be pronounced along the lines of 'uh-lee-uh'. :)

message 189: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Cool. I found a book I might be ineterested in with that spelling. Now if I can remember which book it was because I didn't write it down.

Thanks for the answer on Aisling, Jane. I had no idea it was pronounced like Ashlynn.

message 190: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments OK the only 3 names that I have no possible book ideas for are: Addison, Kennedy and Harper.

I know that I've read a book with a female with a first name of Harper (not the Harper Connelly books but a romance). But for the life of me I can't remember what it was.

They were good quick reads. But then I'm a stupidly fast reader anyway so I can't judge.

It's okay. I've found some cowboys to replace my soldiers.
