Some of our retreat guests may have met Bob Gray, who is a reporter with Shelf Awareness (a publishing industry newsletter). Bob attended our events on Saturday. Here is the first of his reports -- he calls it "Cool Idea of the Year" :)

When can we come back, Ann? Loved Robert Gray's article.

Tammy AZ (tammyaz) | 26 comments The articles were great but I have to say since it's come up in a few places - tell us more about those sheets! What kind??

The Inn at Manchester has sheets that are incredibly soft and wonderful -- so they've started making them available for guests to order. I know at least one retreat guest who ordered a set.

Great article...wish I was still there roaming Northshire and talking to all of you.

Chris | 180 comments Ditto, thanks for the link. Linda, that was wonderful! For all of you NOT in Vermont this weekend, I say we planned the weather just for the retreat! Many times this very cold, rainy weekend I thought, thank goodness this didn't happen last weekend! :-)) Although, us bookies don't need to be outside to enjoy books, was able to finish two! ;-)

I totally agree, Carol...I wanna go back...but with all of you there, too!

message 12: by Bobbi (new)

Bobbi | 153 comments Ann and Michael - Congratulations on what, by all accounts, is a job well done. Your thoughtfulness and attention to detail is evident by all the lavish praise coming in after the event; you should be particularly proud of Bob Gray's report, since he confessed to being somewhat jaded but sounds over the moon about the Retreat - TWO columns - woohoo!

I am heartbroken that I had to cancel my plans to attend at the last minute, but am enjoying reading all the comments from those fortunate folks who made it to Vermont.

So . . . when's the 2012 BOTNS Retreat, and how soon can I sign up?!?!?!

Bravo - consider this a standing ovation!

message 13: by Jo Ann (new)

Jo Ann | 100 comments I love your comment, Bobbi, and hope you can indeed attend next year.

Ann and Michael...and Melissa and All: I feel very "unfinished" not writing thank you notes and sending them in the mail...my Momma taught me that that's important...and I have my own handmade card business to promote such...without addresses, the electronic "thank you" will have to suffice...so, thanks to you all, for all your thoughtfulness, creativity, time, planning, presence, sharing. Still on a "high!" Bobbi, I like the standing ovation idea...

Lisa Ladd | 63 comments I couldn't agree more with this article, it was a readers weekend. Ann and Michael, you did such an amazing job. As a librarian who has heard for too long about the death of books it was so awesome to be surrounded by people who are as passionate about books as I am.

nancy (npjacoby) | 261 comments The piece was terrific. It really expressed the essence of the Retreat.
So glad I saw it. I forwarded to all of my friends who have been asking me about our wonderful Vermont weekend.

message 16: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 56 comments I've been enjoying the retreat vicariously through everyone's comments. Count me in for the next one! I so wish I could have been with you all. Thanks Linda for the info in the book swap. I'm hoping ours turns out as well as the retreat swap. I don't comment much here but I love everyone's suggestions and all that Ann and Michael do to make this the wonderful group of book lovers that it is. Thanks!

Look what I read today...This article from today's Shelf Awareness by Robert Gray sums up the magic of Booktopia and how I'm still feeling the glow of that glorious weekend. Just search his name and read his Deeper Understanding!
