Are you talking about the pdf from Loose-id? Because I didn't think it was available for sale on Amazon for the Kindle (direct Kindle format).

Ahhh yeah I got the PDF and converted it to Mobi format...but I think I saw that you could buy the Mobi format on LI as well and that compatible with Kindle

*sigh* I'll try again before going to bed...

No, it started out as "out of stock" because it had not been released yet. If you're seeing that, you probably only need to refresh your browser (try blowing your cache away).

It is showing up for sale now as an ebook (multi-formats).

Hmm...I did a refresh (it was showing up as available for me still, at $5.99, as a pdf) but is now showing as out of stock.

Don't know. Perhaps they mistakenly made it available prior to the intended release date? Weird...

Nah ns, it's true it's showing that it's Out of Stock I just checked...they suck...I bought my copy like an hour ago and it was working fine...maybe it's glitch...

message 61: by ns (new)

ns (vedi) And before you all get the wrong idea, it's a lovely, lovely, lanyonesque book. Drags herself back to RL.

message 62: by ns (new)

ns (vedi) Will you all hurry up and read it so I can start with the spoilers?????

message 63: by [deleted user] (new)

Well this book is keeping my jet lagged head out of the fog...the words are right and the story better...:O) Back to Sherry and Rafferty :O)

Why it's Nick and Nora...I love the great oldies but goodies that pop up for a visit in Josh's books :O)

"How do you feel?"
"Terrible. I must have gone to bed sober."
...Nora and Nick...*sigh*...I Love Hammett....and I LOVE THIS BOOK

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

@76%...Don't want it to end...*sigh*....Billie Holliday for God's sake...Melancholy and then some...

So I must dream
To have your hand caress me
Fingers press me tight
I'd rather dream
Than have that lonely feeling
Stealing through the night

I love this book...please someone tell there will be more of these two men...

1935 historical mystery in the vein of the Thin Man movies, Suhi.

Frankly, after reading Ginn Hale's Rifter stories, I don't know that I'll ever dare write spec fiction again.

Becky, I think Loose Id keeps the book on their own site for about a month these days and then they share with 3rd part sites. I could be wrong -- maybe it's faster than I think.

But I know they feel the .prc file will work for Kindle owners, so they probably feel like they've covered those bases? DOES the .prc file work for Kindle? That's my question as a newish Kindle owner?

Yup it does, and if you have the PDF file you can convert it to Mobi (Kindle friendly) with Mobi Pocket Creator ;O)

Susan | 807 comments Josh wrote: "DOES the .prc file work for Kindle?"

I was never happy with the way it looked. I buy the pdf version then email that download to my free.Kindle address with 'convert' on the subject line. It's on my Kindle in less than a minute and in perfect format.

I've actually just been emailing PDFs to Kindle and they've all mostly worked for me. Only one file failed and I downloaded Calibre, put it through that, and it worked fine.

I admit I'm a very strong reader and I have no problems with funky margins and even words running into each other. I basically read like a machine. I hear people whimpering about format problems and I just think...try reading essays handwritten by the average American teen and THEN I'll have sympathy for your woes. :-D

Yes. If Loose Id will cooperate with my change of plans for this year, I'll be doing another full length novel in this series around December or early spring.

Susan, I think the rights on that revert to me pretty soon, and at that point I'll make it available on Amazon. I've renewed all the other stuff with LI, but I can't see any reason to leave that with them.

Susan | 807 comments Josh wrote: "I can't see any reason to leave that with them."

I agree. Even though I finally had to purchase the story from LI, it always seemed curious to me that after all this time they never made it available to 3rd party sellers.

I understand and sympathize with the fact that publishers might want to have a title be exclusive for a time, but if it never makes it to 3rd party sites, it does eventually cut into everyone's sales.

Stop tempting me girl! You know how weak I am. And if I don't finish Dark Horse (Dark Horse, #1) by Kate Sherwood now, I know I won't have the strength to pick it up again. So, no more teasing now, I mean it ;)
