Brian Niemeier (brianniemeier) To those who find that collection of fairly elaborate words in this topic's title somewhat foreboding, it's just the name of my current project.

The novel I'm working on is prospectively called Nethereal, and it's the first in a potential series collectively titled Soul Saga.

I've had difficulty trying to pin down the genre I'm working in; but if I had to call it anything, it would be a fantasy/horror/sci-fi blend.

Better yet, check it out, and you tell me.

Ian Hagan | 3 comments Hi,

I'm new to the group and I was cruising the posts on the group page and a stumbled upon your post. I took a look at your site and thought the Soul Saga info is rather interesting. I really like the idea of the receeding divine in your setting. It rings true to the real world, how less and less stories of the supernatural are being told as part of our shared culture. With our modern world we have lost the sense of wonder that so many explorers had in bygone eras, when they pointed to the edge of their maps that had the words 'Here be monsters' emblazened on them and said 'I will find the great unknown here'. Naturally there seems to be much more to your work than just the receeding of the divine; but, the fading of the 'unkown-wonder' seems to ring very true for this time and age. Anyway, I look forward to seeing this story develop.

Brian Niemeier (brianniemeier) Thanks for the spot-on assemssment, Ian. My major aim in creating this setting is trying to depict what a cosmos governed by Manichean principles would be like.
