What makes Shards of Light stand out from other books?
In Shards of Light you view the story through the eyes of a young girl named Lira, a smart, savvy, archer with some skills in the magical arts. It’s written in a first person perspective and the writing is presented in present tense, creating a visual experience beyond the past tense stories most books follow. When reading this book the reader will be pulled into the character’s life; emotions, reactions, thoughts, and desires will be the reader’s, as much as the character’s. This perspective keeps the reader bound to one view, allowing a constant connection between the reader and the character.
The first two books in the series are based on the supporting main character, offering a different type of atmosphere. Much more is revealed, creating a better foundation between them and the character. What usually leaves the main character guessing is revealed to the reader with additional supportive information along the way.
Details are focused on the moment at hand, drawing a picture within the moments shared between both the reader and character. Unnecessary details are left to the reader’s imagination, giving unique atmospheres. Concept art will be used to bring some of what the world of Vandella has to offer, supplied in future books and the official website.
