Augusta | 7 comments I was in my local Waterstone's book shop (in the UK) and noticed they've revamped their YA section. The general category is now 'Teen' and the paranormal/urban fantasy books seem to be lumped together as 'Dark Romance.' It seems to me this label misses the mark. Is this the new trend in the US as well? What are your thoughts on this as a reader and/or an author of YA paranormal/urban fantasy?

J.P. McNeill (mcneillink) | 7 comments Paranormal and urban fantasy are no doubt the current trend for the young adult community, especially in the US, but what book stores are doing concerning shelving and grouping genres, that's more marketing. Book sellers are trying to get the target audience (teens) to jump to other series and let's face it... teens are lazy so they group the major popular stuff together... no worries, vampires can't live forever... or can they??? Lol
