Linda Phegley-payne | 7 comments Hi, I am new to this group. Just watched the Hunger Games then downloaded the book and read it. I found it interesting that the author was born the same year as myself. Many comparisons to our society such as "reality TV" and the vast gap between the rich and the poor.I realize this is fiction for the young adult. I am way past young adult but enjoyed the book and like to know what other people who are not my age are reading. Now I'm curious about the other books in series.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Hi Linda. Welcome to the group.
I just realized that "The Hunger Games" was adapted to film. Below are the links:
"The Hunger Games" (2012)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1392170/
"Set in a future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister's place for the latest match."

http://movies.netflix.com/Movie/The_H...
"In a dystopian future ruled by a totalitarian regime, resourceful Katniss and her partner Peeta represent their district in the lethal Hunger Games, a televised survival competition in which teenage contestants hunt each other to the death."

Sounds like a real thriller!

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4050 comments I read this series last year. It was good but a bit stretched. I think the whole trilogy could have been covered in one longer book. But that's publishers for ya, why sell one book when you can sell three. The first book was the best of the trilogy.
I'm really looking forward to the movie but not enough to see it at the theater. I'll wait til it's on DVD.
