Maybe there is a topic for this already, but if not, let's have one. What are your plans for summer? Are you going out of country or traveling? It will be interesting to know about different destinations and then about the impressions people got from their summer vacations.

High School 20th Reunion... down in Houston, Texas. In the middle of their hottest season. I may melt. But I'll get to see family and I'm most excited about seeing my preggo sister. She's expecting baby #3 around my birthday/Christmas. :)

We're going to our Summer house for a week, and might take a trip to Sweden :-)

I have to force myself to take time off or I'll work all summer. I think I'm driving to western NY for a couple days while my wife and kids are visiting her mom, like they do every summer, but other than that I don't want to travel or even exert myself much. I'll read on the porch. I'll probably watch the third True Blood season, although people have been telling me it's the worst of the three.

I will make my annual sojourn to Colorado, but may end up near Colorado Springs instead of Frisco this time.

I will probably be staying at my aunt's in SC. Which is fine with me, they live 15 minutes away from Myrtle Beach, and I've already visited some pretty great used bookstores.

I'm taking a staycation for a week in 2 weeks time. Already, I'm thinking I should forego the time off and work. But I'm determined to take the time off. It will start off with a quilt retreat.

July will be crazy busy for me at work and I'm going to miss my nephew's wedding and my sister who lives in Hawaii is arriving at our parents the same weekend, so I will miss her as well. Unless... I can pull allnighters before and after so I don't miss deadlines.

In August, I have a quieter month and have booked a weekend retreat with an international quilting instructor. Woohoo!

I could do that! I have lots of field to park in with a lawn chair.

I would like to schedule a staycation in there somewhere, too... that sounds fabulous. As it stands, I'm already waking every morning wondering "Should I call in sick today?" and then I talk myself out of it and end up scurrying to get to work on time. It's not that I don't love my job... I just REALLY love summer.

It's 9:36, I'm still in my PJ's. I need to go to work but am procrastinating. That's how I know I need a week off to veg.

I need one of those chairs that lift you, set your feet on the floor, and then kick you.

I haven't been at my job for long, so I don't really have any vacation time right now. A few weekend trips to the beach are in the works though, so I need to stock up on SPF 1000 so I don't freckle up. Or burst into flames. The sun and I don't get along.

My fall is full of family weddings, so I'm not doing a lot this summer. I'm debating Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, always my favorite, but I'm not overwhelmed by the schedule right now. Also debating visiting friends in Boston and going to ReaderCon.

I've got work piled high in June. For July, I've figured out a way to piggyback some of my own research onto a press trip, so I'll be hitting the archives. Although it would be really nice to get a beach vacation in August, I don't think I can to take any time off. Maybe some weekend trips would be possible. I really want to take my dog swimming.

I'll be working most of the summer, but I don't expect to be working more than 2 or 3 days a week so I get to spend a lot of time in the sun too. In August I'm going to France for a week.

I want your work schedule and work load.

Hawaii first (now, actually). Later, a couple of weeks with my son at my mom's in Oregon, a weekend in San Diego, and maybe a couple of weekend camping outings near home.

Staying in the UK - definitely cheaper/easier with a big family. We're having 1 week on the Isle of Wight (the ferry means we can pretend to go abroad - actually we time travel back to the 1950s) and 1 week with family in Devon.

I wanted to go to the musical festival on the Isle of Wight this year, I keep meaning to... but I had to buy a new car this year, so no overseas trips :(

I’m planning to go to Tennessee camping, Vegas in August & maybe a few little tent camping trips here and there.

My nephew (age 8, almost 9) is coming to visit me next weekend for the first time ever. And then the following weekend I'm getting away from the heating and going to San Francisco for a week! So looking forward to it.

I hate summer. But in August I will schlep up to the lake house, to spend three or four days crammed in a four bedroom house with my parents, my brothers, my sisters-in-law, my two nieces and two nephews. It's actually my brothers who drive me the craziest, and the reason I'm not going for the whole ten days the rest of the family will be there.

I dunno, Clark... the Berkshires were pretty darned fabulous during the summer when I vacationed there. :) Boston was, too.

I love summer. Love the heat. Gets overwhelming sometimes, I admit, but I'd much rather be in the warm. Now, mind you, I'm not talking about Arizona desert warm - talking about mid90s max.

Most of those pictures I have of Berkshires are of Naumkeag.

The Berkshires look like SW Wisconsin which is great in the summer.

Beautiful! Seems like moving to the Berkshires and living as if I'm in the Witness Protection Program might just suit my lifestyle needs.

I agree with Jammies. I hate the summer. It's about 100F here now, and summer hasn't even started. Living in a tourist destination, if you can call the NJ shore that, makes it all the worse. NYers, PAers, NNJers, all in a rush, crowding the stores, dressed in their damp bathing suits.
Summer, it turns me upside down.

Agreed. I don't live in a touristy area, but I hate the summer. I hate the 100 degree days with 50+ percent humidity and the attendant rage I feel when the temperature rises over 90.

The Berkshires are spectacular. I spent six weeks of summer in Boston in 2006, and drove to the Berkshires almost every weekend.

I'm going to Disney World this summer!

Knarik -- what are you planning?

Oh, I was reading everyone's comments, and never realized I had not told about my plans! Well I just visited Disneyland yesterday and it was simply magical, and, as Larry already knows, I am traveling to Armenia!!!! I am going to do an internship there and I am very excited :)
