On page 266 Sam is explaining to Isabel the werewolf lore about the full moon and how it relates to this story. I've previously commented that the "typical" werewolf lore doesn't seem to be present here. It is colder at night, the moon is up (usually) at night. Therefore since these werewolves change when it gets colder - makes sense that it would be at night...moon optional.
Interesting way of making sense of what we "know" to be "true" about the werewolf story and what Steifvater is showing us with her story of Beck, Sam and the other werewolves.

Do you think it works for the story? I do.
