Wow! It looks like some people have completed their annual goal already.

There is a new folder "Finish Line 2011" for those of you that have completed your 50 reads. You can move your thread there by clicking "edit" beside teh title of your thread when you're in the thread, then using the drop down menu beside folder on the edit page to select "Finish Line 2011." Then click save.

Why bother? Then we will know to congratulate you and the alphabetical folders will be freed up for your 2012 thread. You can keep adding books to your 2011 thread as you read them.

Cheers.

John David (nicholasofautrecourt) I was wondering what anyone might happen to think about this suggestion: a "page number" goal, instead of a book number goal. The reason I suggest this is because, now that we're about 2/3 through the year, I've found myself reading some shorter books just so that I know that I'll make the goal by the end of December. I'm a fairly slow reader, and according to my stats, I've only read about 10,000 pages this year, which puts me on track for about 15,000 by the end of the year.

If we switched over to the page number, we could spend all summer reading "War and Peace," "Remembrance of Things Past," and "Crime and Punishment" ... and we wouldn't have to feel guilty that we'd read "only" 3 books.

I don't know if there is a way of Goodreads could set this up, but it's definitely something I'm interested in. What does everyone else think?

Hey John. Lots of people in this group have converted there goals to page number goals, so go ahead. We're pretty cool with making your own parameters. However, you may not start reading large font format books only once you've converted to a page goal ;)

erin buchanan | 188 comments There are also several groups (separate from this one) with page number goals - join both! :)

Kate (kateksh) | 741 comments John, I thought I was on the only one who looked for short books to meet my goal!! It seemed embarrassingly cheesy at first. However, I love reading, books, buying books, book reviews and keeping track of all of it through goodreads so much that I decided it was all in good fun. Great to read that you and I were on the same path, though!

Tayla36 | 274 comments John and Kate, you're not the only ones. I have some books on my list that are considered children's books, which are usually shorter and have a bit of a bigger font. And I have a bunch of Doctor Who novels, which are really easy reads. And I'm still not going to make it to 50.

Not that I'm a total deadbeat. There are plenty of books on my list that were the regular 350 pages and a couple that were 600 pages. so I guess it all evens out in the end
