☽ Rhiannon ✭ Mistwalker ☾ (pnr_list) | 11 comments I'm looking for a romance with a chubby/abused/scarred/plain and insecure heroine and a dashing hero who shows her how awesome she is. I prefer paranormal and historical romances but will read anything with that theme in it. Not really interested in YA.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 2112 comments Have you read Again the Magic by Lisa Kleypas. The heroine is scarred plus it has a reunited lovers theme. It's a beautiful love story!

Shannon C. Night Play (Dark-Hunter, #5) (Were-Hunter, #2) by Sherrilyn Kenyon - First book that came to mind when I read 'chubby insecure heroine'. I love Vane and Bride! It's a great PNR.

Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul, #1) by C.L. Wilson - One of my fav fantasy romance series. The relationship develops over the series, not just in one book. The heroine starts out as a plain jane type but grows into a lot more as the series progresses. The hero helps her to find her way. Love the characters and the story!

Alpha & Omega series by Patricia Briggs - Heroine was abused by her old pack when hero finds/saves her. Their relationship develops over the series. Good amount of mystery, suspense and action mixed in w/the romance. Don't miss the anthology in On the Prowl, which is a prequel to Cry Wolf.

Open Season by Linda Howard - If you also like contemporary romance, this is a classic plane jane and hot hero tale. Nice amount of mystery/suspense mixed into to the romance.

Hope this helps!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Completely agree with Tairen Soul. The heroine is not chubby, but she is considered plain (almost odd) looking and has to grow into her beauty. The love story is beautiful.

Haven't read Again the Magic (but plan to), but I love Kleypas as an author so I'm sure that's an awesome rec.

Since you said you might read other genres outside of the preferences you mentioned, I will throw this out there in case you would be willing to try erotica. The three novellas in this series each feature a plus sized girl, and each one of the guys is a hot tattooed bad boy who worships and adores his woman.

Kimi (kimisokool) | 22 comments I so can't wait to Night Play and Simple Need. Me being plus size, I think I'd enjoy them. =) I just bought Simple Need on amazon. I've read the first two of Dark Hunter. Gosh I've gotta read 2 more before I get to the fifth! =/

Trinity Hanrahan (musesinspire) Sex, Lies and Vampires (Dark Ones, #3) by Katie MacAlister

Sex Lies and Vampires by Katie MacAlister

The very first book I thought of was this one! The lead female character in it has suffered a stroke and is also a little on the...plump... side. Not the usual in most paranormal romance books. But the lead male character is able to see past the physical 'imperfections' and see the real person and therefore finds that, to him, she is the most beautiful woman in the world.

It was awesome!

Night Play has always been one of my favorites by her! That and her book Seize the Night (Dark-Hunter, #7) by Sherrilyn Kenyon . I love the fact that these hot-ass men look beyond the physical and see the internal and can't imagine why no one else ever sees how wonderful these women are! :-)

Makes me melt into a puddle of goo every time! LOL

Tala (tala2) His Teddy Bear by Eve Langlais Has chubby and insecure.
This next one is contemp. but it's well worth the read. It's a menage m/f/m/m Divine Grace (Divine Creek Ranch, #1) by Heather Rainier

The first 3 in The Running in Fear Series by Trinity Blacio has the traumatized/insecure heroine. It's also menage, but it's m/m/f/m Escaped (Running In Fear, #1) by Trinity Blacio Abandoned (Running In Fear, #2) by Trinity Blacio Coming Home (Running In Fear, #3) by Trinity Blacio

Kimberly Chapman | 146 comments How about a curvy, natural-figured lady who didn't even realize she was immortal until she was tortured by Inquisitors, burned as a witch, and managed to escape? Then discovered she can make plants grow by will alone, but was so terrified of that power that she avoided using it for ages? Then finally made a friend, but tragically lost her, and went off to try to feed the starving only to find more strife and violence?

Then hid out in the forest for nearly another century until some nasty scientists caught her, imprisoned her in an underground lab, and mercilessly experimented upon her?

And then one day - one glorious day she can barely believe actually happened - a handsome man who shares her unfortunate immortality came into the lab, lifted her out, and now wants nothing more than to let her finally discover the goddess he believes her to be?

If you think that'd suit what you're looking for, may I humbly offer: Finding Gaia Finding Gaia by Kimberly Chapman

Betelgeuze | 69 comments The sarah beauhall series by J.A. Pitts has a heroine who has been traumatized by her religious upbringing. Her girlfriend helps her accept herself. It's UF rather than PNR, but has a romantic subplot.

Black Blade Blues (Sarah Beauhall #1) by J.A. Pitts Honeyed Words (Sarah Beauhall #2) by J.A. Pitts Forged in Fire (Sarah Beauhall #3) by J.A. Pitts

King of Hearts by Cheyenne McCray has a chubby heroine (Erotic PNR, BDSM).
King of Hearts (Wonderland, #1) by Cheyenne McCray

Branded Sanctuary by Joey W. Hill. Has a heroine who survived a violent assault (contemporary romance/erotica BDSM)
Branded Sanctuary (Nature of Desire, #7) by Joey W. Hill

Cherise Sinclair has several books with the theme your looking for. They're BDSM contempary romance/erotica rather then PNR, but they're very good. Here's two of her books with these themes:

Chubby Heroine: Master of the Mountain (Mountain Masters, #1) by Cherise Sinclair

Abused heroine: Breaking Free (Masters of the Shadowlands, #3) by Cherise Sinclair (3rd book in series)
