**Spring Reading Challenge**

http://continuousreader.blogspot.com/......"
Do we? I thought November was the beginning of Summer... here it becomes so hot in November and we have so much heat that it seems to melt into Summer as our storm season begins around October/November that I forget that we have an extra month of Spring.

Oops... I've gone in and changed the post on my blog... just the way it's worded.

and to think... I might be down the coast by that time and having my Dad constantly asking me: 'is that a good book?' 'Yes, Dad' 'Are you sure?' *groans* 'Yes, Dad'...

Oh, yeah... I'll be stuck in a caravan with my Mum, Dad and my budgie... lots of fun there... :P

Aaaannnnnddddd.......lots of books ;P
Aaaannnnnddddd.......lots of books ;P

Actually, Dad gives me a book limit... as we can't have too many down there. :(
So, there are years where I don't go to the coast simply because I don't have my stash of books - and most times it's been raining lately. I find there's no better way to spend the day than to sit in the lounge with a nice tall glass of ice tea in Summer and read from my collection of books while the rain is pouring down outside.
Can't do that in a caravan; you're always worried if the rain's coming in somewhere. :S

And it's much more squishy in a caravan....not the privacy of a larger house/room!!! Sounds like you need an ereader (like me) so you'll have a HUGE amount of books with you:D

I'm afraid I'm unable to own one with my Epilepsy; they're not good for my brain. It's RL books all the way; I like RL books anyway as I'm retro that way... I love the smell of new ones and the odour of old ones. :)

Aahh!! I have heard that is the case actually! Just as well you love real books...the only problem is the space they take up, isn't it!!! When you're travelling on a plane, it's very restrictive! Maybe you could go to Vinnies or somewhere similar and pick up the 10c books, while you're in the caravan, then take them back for someone else to read when you're finished?

Where I'm going, most of the charity stores don't exist... and the only bookstore closed down (it's dreadful!). So, I must take my own supply and then wait for the monthly market to arrive.

Ohh! Good luck with lots of skinny books then;D

So that is 8 down, 2 to go. I am having trouble deciding on a book for number 8.
1. A much loved book. Smokin' Seventeen by Janet Evanovich.
2. Choose a book that features a new life. Bundle of Trouble by Ellen James.
3. Choose a book for it's cover - a spring image with all it's colour. A Room with a View by E.M. Forster.
4. Choose a book which includes handicrafts ... The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards
5. Choose a book written by an Aussie author, released somewhere in the 3 months of Spring. The Secret Signal by Simon Haynes.
7. Young Adult book. Fledgling by Mark A. Cooper.
9. A book with the title beginning with the first letter of your name (D). Divergent by Veronica Roth.
10. A book with a garden connection. Indelible Ink by Fiona McGregor.

I so totally understand that!

1. Spring clean your bookcases by reading a much loved, but yet unread book..either novel or biography - The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler - My Review ---> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

2. Choose a book that features a new life - a baby (animal or human) on the cover/in the story (Born) - Blood Born by Kathryn Fox - My Review ---> http://tasbooklover.blogspot.com/2011...

3. Choose a book for it's cover - a spring image with all it's colour - Death At The Spring Plant Sale - My Review ---> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

4. The Royal Adelaide show is on 2nd - 10th September so a book about a show/carnival rides/handicrafts/cookery/livestock..anything to tie into the event - Carnies by Martin Livings - Brief Thoughts ---> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

5. Choose a book written by an Aussie author, released somewhere in the 3 months of Spring - The 3rd Victim by Sydney Bauer (Sept 2011 Release) - My Review ---> http://tasbooklover.blogspot.com/2011...

6. Seeing as Spring colours are predominantly red and yellow, pick a book with either a red or yellow cover, and post the book cover as well, so everyone can see (and get colourful suggestions) - Davo's Little Something by Robert G. Barrett - Brief Thoughts ---> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

7. Sydney Eisteddfod is running until 20th September and they are searching for the best young Australian talent, so pick a Young Adult book, not necessarily by an Aussie author, for this event - Virals by Kathy Reichs - Brief Thoughts ---> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

8. Choose a book about horses/horse racing/betting/money won and lost - The 5th Horseman by James Patterson - My Review ---> http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

9. A book with the title beginning with the first letter of your name (David) - D.E.D Dead by Geoff McGeachin - My Review ---> http://tasbooklover.blogspot.com/2011...

Thanks... I'll need it. I have been trying to get my nose into 'Lady of the Rivers' by Philippa Gregory and 'How to Hepburn' by Karen Karbo. The first one is a fast-moving fantasy novel set in the times of Joan of Ark; and I love it. The second book if a quick-witted book about Katharine Hepburn and information about her. I love it so far. I like to read two books at once to get through as many as I can.

thank you both - Brenda and Carmel - for your lovely words for my good health. What happened to me was from a pre-existing condition; and I have to get it looked at so it doesn't do this to me again. And it gives me more time to read great books :D

How true... I've always found solace in the written word when I've been sick or recovering from a visit to hospital. And the last time I was doing that was in 1996; and I had to have 4 days bedrest... even though I snoozed through a good part of that, I had 2 weeks to recooperate from a major melanoma operation... which caused me to read plenty and get into my writing again; just to keep my mind active. :)
