Sounds like you've had a few major health issues Mozette! Hope you are completely on the mend now, and able to enjoy your reading and writing while relaxing:)

David (tasbooklover) | 151 comments Hey Moz, hope you are feeling better. I wasn't getting rushed to hospital sick like you, but I found reading took my mind off being a little bit crook last week. Hopefully it works for you too. Thinking of you. All the best :)

Have finished #2, new life... The Perfect Husband by Lisa Gardner I'm pushing the boundaries a bit with this one, but there is a baby born...(you'll have to read it to find out more!) My review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

8 down 2 to go:)

Louise (louisecc) | 192 comments I've finished The Lost Symbol and my review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/.... That only leaves me 100 pages of Genesis of the Grail Kings: The Explosive Story of Genetic Cloning and the Ancient Bloodline of Jesus and I've finished!

Why do I always leave the boring/stupid/waste-of-space/good-god-they-actually-got-that-published?? book until last? ;)

Haha!! Well done Louise! You know you don't have to finish one like that! Life's too short to read books you're not enjoying, and there would be plenty of others that you can spend enjoyable time on;D

:D I have been thinking about not finishing it - but I've got so far I need to find out which planet the aliens (annunaki)came from! I've survived the idea that God is married, although currently Mrs God is AWOL, and the idea that Joseph was a master alchemist NOT a carpenter - it's all in the translation apparently. LOL!

Mozette | 56 comments My reading has been taking a back seat lately. With all kinds of social get-togethers, being taken to hospital, grocery shopping and Christmas rearing its ugly head again... I'm not finding much time to read in the next few weeks. So, the books that I've read - all four of them - are probably going to it for the challenge. I feel bad about this; but it's how the year pans out... too busy to read until Christmas is over. :(

But I do have three romance novels and a new Stephen King novel I'm planning on getting my nose into over the NYE period... so catch me then and I may have them read and ready to tell you about them. :)

Good luck with all that Mozette! And GL with the Stephen King book...is it 11/22/63? I had a look at that one yesterday, and it has not much short of 1000 pages!!!

yeah, that's the one and it's a pretty long book... I heard its release on the news the other day and looked it up; then ordered it in. I'm buying it for myself for Christmas; I only hope it's not as disappointing as 'Under the Dome' was a few years back (as I found that as boring as dirt under my fingernail). When I read about the time travel aspect of it, I thought 'why not' and ordered my copy. Great thing is that I have a voucher to spend on the book; and so it won't cost me so much to buy it.

Usually at this time of the year I'm off to Brunswick Heads (in Northern New South Wales; a very pretty part of the world) but over the last few years, all it's done is rain and get freezing cold there. And being stuck in a caravan with a budgie and two other adults is not my idea of a fun time. So, I've decided to spend my time here at home so I can spread out and read where I wish, enjoy my home and sit out in the car port and read what I want to during the hot summer days... not a bad idea if you ask me; as it gets very quiet around here over the NYE break.

Sounds like a wonderful idea Mozette....you won't have to restrict your books then, that's for sure:) Brunswick Heads is a beautiful area, that's for sure:)

Louise (louisecc) | 192 comments OK - I have finished this reading challenge! My review for Genesis of the Grail Kings: The Explosive Story of Genetic Cloning and the Ancient Bloodline of Jesus is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/....

I am totally glad that I actually read to the end of this book, as now I will never have to wonder what the result was, and tonight I intend on using alcohol to wipe the memory of this book and author from my subconscious! :) I'm now settling down to read a nice Jeffrey Deaver to start the cleansing process.

Is there to be a summer challenge? I hope so, because I want to see if I can improve my selection skills (they certainly couldn't get any worse than this last book). Also, I'm returning to study next year so I'm not sure how many more challenges I can complete once semester starts especially as I've added so many books to my reading list from other people's challenge lists.

Yes, there will be a summer challenge...it's to be released in a few days:)

It's wonderful to get so many more books from other people's lists/TBR isn't it! It adds different genres to the mix!

Oh yes it is! It can be so easy to get stuck in a rut with the same genre/author, so it's great to find out what else is out there!

I also believe that I was put on this earth to read books, and right now, I am so far behind I will never die! :D

Sally906 | 87 comments OK - well I am not going to be able to complete this challenge - haven't even picked up my 'horse' book and not likely to finish in time - so will rest on my laurels of completing 9 out of the 10 spring challenges - and I finished the Aussie Author one as well so I am content with that. Here is the list of the books I completed for this challenge.

1. Spring Clean - read a book from your shelf:
Dead Man’s Chest by Kerry Greenwood

2. New Life - read a book with a baby on the cover (either human or animal):
Baby Bonanza by Maureen Child

3. Spring on cover:
Stone Spring by Stephen Baxter

4. Book with anything that can be linked to an activity at the Royal Adelaide Show: Enslaved by Ducks by Bob Tarte (always have prize ducks at the show)

5. Book released in spring by an Aussie Author:
Empire Day by Diane Armstrong released September

6. Colours of spring - Book with a cover of red or yellow:
Rip Tide by Kat Falls (Kindle)

7. Young Adult book:
Tales of Terror from the Black Ship by Chris Priestley

8. Spring Carnivals - horses, horse racing, betting money:
Did not complete

9. Read a book whose title starts with my first initial - 'S':
Smokin' Seventeen by Janet Evanovich

10. Book with garden or spring connections:
The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen (has blossoms on the cover, and the peach tree is in a garden)

message 446: by Dee-Ann (new)

Dee-Ann | 644 comments I am clutching at straws here, but for number 6, I read the book Addition. My version looks different to the one here, but it had on its covers some red apples and overall the cover had a spring look to it. This was a very funny book, and I think I gave it 5 stars and I look forward to reading more from this Aussie author.

However, I dont think I will finish this challenge. I am currently reading Casino Royale. I am just over half way through. This is one of the few times I can say that the movie is better than the book. James Bond is such an obnoxious sexist uncaring character. Hopefully he improves in the second half of the book. If nothing else, I have learnt how to play Baccarat.

Thus I am 9.5 down, half a book to go.

1. A much loved book. Smokin' Seventeen by Janet Evanovich.
2. Choose a book that features a new life. Bundle of Trouble by Ellen James.

3. Choose a book for it's cover - a spring image with all it's colour. A Room with a View by E.M. Forster.

4. Choose a book which includes handicrafts ... The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards

5. Choose a book written by an Aussie author, released somewhere in the 3 months of Spring. The Secret Signal by Simon Haynes.

6. Spring colours. Additions by Toni Jordan.

7. Young Adult book. Fledgling by Mark A. Cooper.

8. A book about betting. Casino Royale by Ian Fleming. CURRENTLY READING.

9. A book with the title beginning with the first letter of your name (D). Divergent by Veronica Roth.

10. A book with a garden connection. Indelible Ink by Fiona McGregor.

message 448: by Dee-Ann (new)

Dee-Ann | 644 comments I just happened to have spent about an hour in the bus, and finished the book. So, again by a whisker, I have finished the challenge.

I only gave Casino Royale 2 stars, even thinking of 1 star. The story was okay, but I hated the character ... all the way to the end.
