Jon (jonmoss) | 209 comments My Nook Color reports that On Basislisk Station has 353 pages of text.

Thanks,

Jon

Most e-book formats do not have a fixed number of pages since the pagination adjusts for screen size. For PDF specific editions, or any other fixed page e-books, the normal paging rules may be used.

Jon (jonmoss) | 209 comments Not very helpful and the first time since I got my Nook Color that a GoodReads librarian has refused to update the page info.

My Nook Color provides a bar visually showing my percentage done, but not the actual percentage. It does, however, report what page I'm on. Makes updating my status at GoodReads a tedious basic math problem now.

Chuck | 51 comments Not saying it can't be updated, but that page numbers on ebooks are more of a flexible thing, so it is not as useful to update.

I added the page count, but it will not be accurate to all ebook versions

That's not true. I have a Nook and the page #'s stay the same no matter the text size.

But this is not necessarily an edition that is strictly Nook. There is no isbn, so it could be any ebook...read on Nook, Overdrive, Sony, etc. And will vary on which reader you use.

Chuck | 51 comments you also have a nook, on the sony lrf version of the same ebook I see a grand total of 566 pages. You could minus a few for the "pages" we don't count, but that is a lot more than 353 pages.

Jon (jonmoss) | 209 comments I can do the math to figure a percentage.

Sandra | 31419 comments Generally for ebooks we use either PDF or epub page numbers, as those formats don't change across readers. Not sure what the Nook uses.

I sideloaded the epub versions from Bean's website to my NookColor.

Jon (jonmoss) | 209 comments Should we perhaps have ebook formats listed on the 'more editions' page for the various formats (epub, mobi, etc.) I believe you do this somewhat already, listing the Kindle versions separately.

message 12: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 31419 comments Kindle is a whole different kettle of fish. Only the newer kindle editions have page numbers, most only %.

If you were to list the different formats available for each book you could have half a dozen with only one having an ISBN. I think it would get plenty messy myself, as the only difference would be the format as page numbers still couldn't be used.

Nook editions are most often ePub.

ePub page numbers DO CHANGE across readers.
