Sharon Lipman (sharonlipmanauthor) | 56 comments Hey everyone. I like reading series of books. I hate it when you get really into a story and then it's over with no clue on what might happen next.

I read all the Laurell K. Hamilton Anita Blake and Meredith Gentry books.

Also Charlaine Harris brilliant Sookie Stackhouse series.

Twilight was a good short series too.

I'm just waiting for my copy of One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) by Jeaniene Frost to arrive so I can carry of with the Night Huntress series

I've started reading Kelley Armstrong's Bitten but I'm not sure if I like it. I also tried Christine Feehan's Dark Carpathian series but couldn't really warm to any of the characters in Dark Prince. There was a lot of repetition and it started to grate by the end of the book.

I have a few other books to tide me over, but I need another series to get my teeth into. All recommendations welcome!

La La | 245 comments I just finished reading Richelle Mead's Georgina Kincaid series and that was really good. I think there is one more book left, coming out at the end of the month. I also enjoy Nancy Gideon's Moonlight series and Adrian Phoenix's Maker Song series. All these series centers around one hero and one heroine.

A book away from an episode of hoarders (fidgit77) | 49 comments Have you tried the Dark Hunter by Sherrilyn Kenyon series yet? I really enjoyed it. Also the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward is another one that I found addictive.

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning is my absolute fav... You must check them out.

First book is Dark Fever Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning

If you don't mind straying away from the Paranormal realm, there is an excellent series out (currently 18 books out I believe?)

It's the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evonovich.
The first book in this series is One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich

ஐAndreaஐ (rosesrrblue) | 707 comments Personally, I'm more into the series that continue to follow the same character's. Here are a few of my favorite first books in series that you did not mention. Succubus & Night Huntress are favorites of mine as well.

Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires, #1) by Chloe Neill Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Storm Born (Dark Swan, #1) by Richelle Mead

All have alpha males and kick ass chicks. Darkfever is the first in the fever series, not my favorite, but the books just keep getting better.

I also like stories that continue to develop the same characters. I will definitely check these out!

Thanks!

I've just added them all to my "to read list." Think I may be busy for some time!! xxx

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 21 comments C. E. Murphy has a new series just getting started. Truthseeker (Worldwalker Duology #1) by C.E. Murphy is the first book. Wayfinder (Worldwalker Duology #2) by C.E. Murphy will be coming out later this year. Truthseeker is one of my most favorite books of the year!

If you like YA books, Vampire Academy is the first in the series of 6. The series is finished, but a spinoff is coming soon!

Im not sure why but the Vamp Academy books just don't appeal. Maybe I should give them a go.

I definitely like the sound of the Truth Seeker - I've put it on my "to read list," so thanks for the recommendation

I only just noticed this post. I like your website. Blood and Light sounds intriguing and I liked Rue's story from her own website. I think I'll give it a go.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Me neither!!! So excited.

message 20: by La La (new)

La La | 245 comments @ Yvonne - You can also try Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter. These books are very similiar to BDB except the heroes are possess by the demon from Pandora's box. The Demonica series by Larisa Ione is really good. A lot of people also suggest the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian and Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole.

message 21: by Laura (last edited Aug 19, 2011 08:45AM) (new)

Give the Carpathians another chance. Most of the other characters are much better, and the other books are better. Gregori & Savannah's book (#4) is good, Jacques book is good (#2), A few of the books have interwined characters (books #3, 5, 6, 12). The DeLa Cruz brothers are ineresting, they are books #13,14,15,18,22, and they are in 21 even though it's not about them.

Maybe I will give them another go. I just thought the 1st one repeated itself a lot and was quite irritated by it in the end! I have them all on Kindle, so I will get around to it at some point!

message 27: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey (klekia) | 14 comments I felt the same way about Carpathians, lots of repetition and although the characters connect, there are hardly ever scenes with old characters or updates and interactions between the main couple and past characters. So if that is the type of book you like, I don't think that really changes throughout.

I (for whatever reason) am not a huge were fan so I couldn't get into Bitten. So I skipped the Women of the Underworld series until Practical Magic and went from there. And I love them.

message 29: by Laura (new)

Laura Carson (laurarcarson) Just finished Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound, #1) by Jennifer Ashley Primal Bonds (Shifters Unbound, #2) by Jennifer Ashley (3rd TBR). Highly reccomend it for any PNR fans.

Jules | 36 comments Heard good things about JR Ward's the Black Dagger Brotherhood but I'm yet to read it.

I'm currently reading The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, which I'd recommend.

The Mercy Thompson series is brilliant.

But best of all, think I would have to say is The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. It's really just.. awesome. Maybe not as much romance as like, Twilight, but it is well written and very exciting. And I just love all the characters.

Just started BDB, love the Hollows, October Daye series (Starts with Rosemary and Rue) and Mercy Thompson, and I also recommend The Dresden Files (very light on romance, but still great) and The Iron Druid Chronicles (same as Dresden- light to no romance, but still wonderful UF)
