M A Comley - thrills guaranteed. :-)

I don't think there are any poor dentists. Lorraine, did you see the picture of my grandson?

I don't know about poor dentist, but the Polish dentist experience was so much nicer ! He had the music on for a start, and kept singing Xmas carols while his hands were in my mouth! There was a bit of flirting between him and the nurse, it was just so funny, I don't think I have ever had such a stress free experience ever !

All the proceeds from my book go direct to pancreatic cancer research.
I did a short review of "It's a Dog's Life" on Goodreads last night. As I mention there - I have met several of these abandoned and rescued greyhounds.

That was kind of you to leave a review. I think the next dog we get is going to be a greyhound. ;-)

;-)

I wish, Sarah, it would be nice. ;-)
I think it will mean less time procrastinating on here though! ;-(

Mel!
I have a question for you! C'm 'ere a minute, eh?
(drives Dave mad when I say that to him) hehe

Just fell asleep at the computer! lol
Went next door to the neighbour's last night to share a Galette with them! ;-)

What's a Galette? A really BIG bottle of wine?
We're having a chat about KDP select in Steve's thread. Well, I am. I think I'm debating myself, actually.
I just wondered if you decided to put a couple of your short stories into the programme? I believe you had mentioned you were thinking about it?

I have two shorts in the select programme and just made the decision to put one of my main books in it too.
One of my shorts is going FREE on Tues-Thurs this week. ;-)

I'm hungry now !

Oh cool, freebie! Bet I've already got it. Will be shocked if I haven't.
I'm really interested in if you find doing the KDP thing worthwhile.
Downstairs neighbour's grand daughter must be visiting.
Thud thud thud thud
Thud thud thud thud THUD
WAAAAAAAAA!
Think she ran into a wall. Poor wee thing. Won't be doing that again....

I think I'm having much more success in the US with my books Patti at the moment, which is fine as I have a US agent anyway so the better my sales over there the better it is to get a deal. That's how I'm looking at it.
To be honest Patti the select is a personal choice, depends if an author is selling elsewhere or not. Impeding Justice is rocketing up the Nook chart so I'd be an idiot to pull that off Barnes and Nobel.
;-)

I'm quite expecting things to be happening with Kobo, too. They seem to be really pushing the marketing of it.
America is a much bigger market than the UK, isn't it? Getting your name well known there would certainly lead to more sales.
I guess the biggest thing I'm seeing with KDP is the huge amount of freebies that a book can get so lost in. I must admit that the quality of the freebies seems to have improved a bit, though. At least there are more gems to be found than ever there was.

And yes I think the KOBOs sold well over Christmas, only time will tell as to what that will do to our sales. ;-)

This review is from: It's A Dog's Life (A DI Lorne Simpkins novellette) (Kindle Edition)
I'm a big fan of Mel Comely's DI Lorne Simkins series. This novella is a stellar addition to the trio of novels she has written.
Very moving story of Greyhound rescue, based on a true story. It is a shocking abuse what happens to many of these fine animals when their racing career is over. Comely expertly exposes the dark side of dog racing and many dog owners. Stiffer laws are needed to protect these animals from such abuse.
Well worth the 99 cents price tag and for that you get a highly entertaining tale and support animal rescue since all proceeds go to PUPS.
Well done, Mel. You deserve an award from PETA.

How are you, Lorraine? I've got that many projects on the go at the moment and deadline's to meet I don't know if I'm coming or going! ;-)

I have my article to get ready for the mag today and I'm in the middle of three new projects! ;-)
Hope Ollie's behaving himself! ;-)

Take it easy Mel, okay, we don't want you getting exhausted x

I second Lorraine's offer of help, of course. if I can do anything for you just let me know. :)

It's tough being a writer full-time with so many demanding fans to please! lol
Did you manage to get your visa sorted out?

Why do I feel slightly targetted by this comment lol ?

Sorry guys, didn't mean to ignore you all, I didn't get notified that you'd left a comment for some reason.
One of my friends on FB sent me a message yesterday, unlike other authors I strictly forbid my friends leaving reviews for my books on Amazon.
Here's what she said.
Mel!!!! I read It's a Dog's Life last night - beautifully written, I loved it and I now want to rescue a greyhound (we've been thinking about it for a while) - there is a greyhound rescue not that far from us....well, when I say 'we' I obviously mean 'me' as Hubby won't want another doggy, but I think some company for Bertie would be good!! :) xx
My job is done! lol
Oh and btw, Lorne has a new partner in Justice 4 (haven't got a title yet) and she's just hit some major conflict, almost 20,000 through it at the moment. It has to be ready for the editor by April, no pressure then! lol
