Hey everyone!! I'm a moderator with Shellbelle in Reading is My Escape and Jennifer is in the group too and we thought it might be fun to put this up for you guys! We don't want to overwhelm you with challenges, so I thought I would just put up a link to this in RIME to see if you're interested, plus RIME is another great group! I'm thinking if we get enough interest maybe we could start one for the Susan Mallery group? If you would like to see this challenge on here and more tailored to romance, please let us know! I'll put up the rules and categories here, as well as the link to the actual thread on RIME. If you have any questions, please let one of us know!!!

Book-a-Month Challenge!!I figured since a lot of people are busy and don’t necessarily have time to read more than one book a month, we could do a book-a-month challenge! I came up with three categories for each month (if you want to do more than one book, it can be counted as bonus!). There are also some bonus categories at the end if you can’t make any of the books fit with what choices are given! This way you read at least one book a month for the entire year! I guess it could be considered a smaller yearly challenge for the busier among us.
You can jump in on this challenge whenever! Also since it's the end of July, I figured we could just start with August! I sent out an event invite. You don't have to respond to that to join though, just post here and let me know!
I'm going to post the categories and bonus questions in the post below.
Also, this is my first challenge, so if I leave anything out, please forgive me! If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I'm here to help! :)
Here are the challenge options!December:
1. The 12th Month: read a book with 12 in the title or is the 12th in a series.
2. Nobel Prize Month: read a Nobel Prize winning book or a book by a Nobel Prize winning author.
3. Happy Holidays!: read a book holiday related (Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, New Year’s Eve, etc).
January:
1. Janus, The God of the Doorway: read a book where the character embarks on a new beginning.
2. Three Wise Men Day: read a book where there are three main characters.
3. National Thank You Month: read a book that has a present/gift on the cover or has to do with gift giving; or a book with “thank you” in the title.
February:
1. Valentine’s Day: read a romance novel or any novel involving Valentine’s Day.
2. Leap Year: read a book involving Leap Year or a book involving someone that time travels.
3. LGBT & Black History Month: read a book relating to either of these or read a book about acceptance.
March:
1. Women’s History Month: read a book involving women’s suffrage or a book that has a strong female protagonist.
2. National Reading Day!: read a book about books or a book that has a book on the cover.
3. Pi Day: read a book involving baking/food (I know Pi Day is for math, but I always eat pie on Pi day!) or a book involving numbers/math.
April:
1. Diamond Month: read a wedding book, a book involving jewelry or diamonds in someway!
2. Autism Awareness Month: read a book with an autistic character.
3. Arbor Day: read a book with a tree/plant on the cover or a book that takes place in the wild/outdoors.
May:
1. Named for a Goddess: read a book with gods/goddesses or mythical creatures.
2. Beltane: read a book about witches/magic.
3. Zombie Awareness Month: read a book about zombies.
June:
1. The Month to be Married: read a romance novel/book involving a wedding.
2. Children’s Day: read a book involving children or that has children on the cover.
3. Rose and Moonstone: read a book with a rose or a moon on the cover.
July:
1. Dog Days: read a book with a dog on the cover or that involves a dog.
2. National Ice Cream Month: read a book with ice cream on the cover or a book that involves desserts.
3. 7th Month: read a book with 7 in the title or is the 7th in a series.
August:
1. Leo Pride: read a book involving lions, a character that is a Leo or has a green cover.
2. The Battles of Ireland: read a book that takes place in Ireland or has an Irish character.
3. International Beer Day: read a novel involving alcohol or that has alcohol on the cover.
September:
1. Autumn Begins: read a book that takes place in or starts in the autumn.
2. International Day of Peace: read a book that has “peace” in the title or a book that involves peace (or lack thereof).
3. Patriot Day: read a book with a flag on it, a red/white/blue cover, a character in the military or involving an American historical event.
October:
1. Leif Erikson Day: read a novel about a Viking/warrior or with a hot guy on the cover (I’m just saying that Leif was hot and ripped, haha) or a book where a new land/world is discovered.
2. International World Teacher’s Day: read a book about a teacher or a book about a student in school.
3. Apple Day: read a book with an apple/fruit on the cover or a red cover.
November:
1. Day of the Dead: read a scary/horror novel or a novel involving ghosts.
2. Leonids Meteor Shower: read a book involving the sky/space/stars.
3. National Adoption Day: read a novel about an adopted child.
Bonus:
1. Pick a book that involves a holiday that occurs in that month.
2. Pick a book from a series that you started during this challenge.
3. Pick a book with a month name in the title.
4. Pick a book with a season on the cover (ex. Snow, leaves, flowers, etc.)
5. Pick a book that was published in that month.

Can I do this challenge on both RIME and WLSM?
We don't currently have it set up on WLSM, just on RIME. We were going to see what the response was from people in WLSM and then tailor it more to SM and romance novels. But you're more than welcome to post the stuff on here if you're not a member of RIME. I'll talk to Shellbelle about putting it up on here. Would you be interested in having it as a challenge here on WLSM?

I think we should do this challenge in this group as well. It's a very easy challenge so it won't overwhelm new members who are new to reading challenges.
I agree with Dawn! Also I joined this challenge on Rime, for the month of September.
