Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Hey, librarians, one of our loopholes was just closed: changing the first author of an edition separates it from all other editions, so you can't keep editions combined across multiple authors. (See here for the discussion in the feedback group.) Otis has offered to leave this loophole in place if we'd prefer, but I know that it can be annoying to remember to separate a book before changing its author if that's what you meant to do, so I figured I'd ask here....

This Is Not The Michael You're Looking For | 949 comments Personally, I think the loophole should remain closed. I am open to being convinced otherwise.

The only advantage of leaving it open, that I see, is that if one has to fix the authorship of a set of combined books, with the loophole in place one does not need to recombine them after the name is fixed.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments One of the ways I've been using it is when we get a large set of editions with two authors, the records tend to be split as to which one is first or second; if you combine each half and then switch one record and combine it, you can combine all of the editions without having to edit half of them.
