Susan Jo Grassi (susanjo) Hello all, I'm Susan from SE Kansas. Been with Goodreads for a few months but never joined a group until now. I love all types of mysteries but especially historical. Am also into the older authors such as Christy, Sayers, Wentworth, etc. Believe it or not,I am a "certified" paranormal investigator and researcher, so I love ghost stories. (My husband just thinks I'm a "certified" nut.) I'm looking forward to the group discussions.

Welcome Susan. That is an interesting career choice! Lots of Sayers and Christie fans here, and I'm sure you'll find lots of more modern things to read too.

We're voting for next month's group reads, so why don't you go over to the polls (to the right near the group's icon). I use the monthly nominations to increase my TBR pile, I confess.

Hi Susan. Glad you found us. I'm rather fond of historical mysteries too. Have you read any of the Maisie Dobbs series? Maisie Dobbs

Dena | 97 comments Welcome to the group, Susan. I live in Wichita and we seem to like several of the same authors. I'm sure you'll like this lively bunch of book lovers.

Laura DiSilverio | 9 comments Hi Susan. Glad you've joined us. I second the plug for the Maisie Dobbs series and would also suggest Charles Todd's two series set in/just after WWI.

Susan Jo Grassi (susanjo) Thank you all for the warm welcome and the great suggestions. Will have to check out Maisie Dobbs and Charles Todd. Dena, nice to meet you neighbor. Hayes, not a career choice, just when you get to be my age, you like to be prepared.

M. Myers (mruth) | 100 comments Welcome, Susan. I, too, will second Maisie Dobbs and the novels by Charles Todd.

Susan Jo Grassi (susanjo) Hi M., You are my first friend on Goodreads. Thank you so much for the invitation. I look forward to our interaction. I live in KS now, because of my husbands health, but spent 36 years in Colorado Springs, CO and made several trips to the 4 corners area. I love that area and Tony Hillerman's book brought it to life.

Tony Hillerman's books inspired our family trip to the area a few years ago. Beautiful part of the country.

and I spent some grand times with Tony in Albuquerque ... we used to "collaborate" on writing the annual Gridiron roast for the Abq Press Club. As two guys whose imaginations could run wild, you can imagine the episodes we came up with. Fine writer, fine friend. Miss 'em!! My TERMINAL POLICY opens with a scene on the New Mexico desert...shades of Hillerman!
