Tamahome | 7222 comments A certain writer worked on the Twilight Zone revival. I won't say his name because we've had too much of him, but his initials are G. R. R. M..

Paul Millsaps (pmillsaps) | 6 comments Well, to be honest, I think the discussions are fine as is, with or without George R.R.Martin. I understand some people getting tired of it, but its a discussion, and anyone who makes the choice to listen has to accept at some times they will discuss something you are not interested in, Some of us ARE interested in that subject, so I would suggest Veronica and Tom just continue doing what they have always done, have frank and interesting talks on subjects they are interested in, which we get to listen in on and then render our opinions here on the forums (which we are wont to do)

Nick (whyzen) | 1295 comments So .. umm .. next book? Feed, The Dervish House, or maybe By Light Alone

terpkristin | 4407 comments I too am intrigued by what our next pick will be! Hopefully next week or the week after. In the meantime, I'm happy to continue with Stand on Zanzibar. :)

toria (vikz writes) (victoriavikzwrites) my vote is for By light alone. But, do we want to read another laser book (sci-Fi). I am allergic to zombie's by the way;)

Nick (whyzen) | 1295 comments Would anyone be opposed to maybe having a few Novella's or Novellete's as book selections? We could read two or three of those in the time we give one book and it would be little different. I've read The Lifecycle of Software Objects and plan on reading "For Want of a Nail". They are nice and bite sized and some of them really are good.

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 2898 comments Dang you guys! I usually have months to read a S&L pick before we move on to something else, and I am not at the top of the queue at the library for Flashforward yet. Expect some insightful and lonely feedback in a few weeks, ha!

I'm also eager to see what we read next!

Brian (balah) | 13 comments For our next book...how about The Postmortal?

I was just about to post the same thing. I only just got my copy from the library yesterday but I'm in the middle of another book so I'm not even going to start reading it yet. Anyway, I'll be looking forward to some insightful feedback and just to let you know, you won't be alone.

Woohoo! I secretly believe someone in my town is in Sword and Laser too, because the book the group is about to read is almost always checked out.

Michael (the_smoking_gnu) | 178 comments The fruit fly, code for GRRM? ;)

So, Veronica keeps GRRM buzzing around her room. :) Now we know why it takes him so long to finish his books.

Kris (kvolk) Really enjoyed the discussion of Flash forward. I didn't read it but I got a lot from T and V's talking about the concepts and the story. I would like to vote for The Dervish House for our next read. Glad to not hear about the author who shall remain unmentioned. Veronica you need a miniature baby dragon to eat your fruit flies.

Laurent Rochette | 7 comments The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern mentioned in the Calendar part is the free "Pick of the Week" iBook at Starbucks.

message 24: by Boots (new)

Boots (rubberboots) | 499 comments I finally finished reading the book today and listened to the podcast afterwards and I thoroughly enjoyed both.

So now that I'm done Flashforward, I'm going to pick-up Reamde from the library tomorrow and I have Ready Player One on order, but there's a huge lineup for that one. Which leads me to ask if it would be possible to get a week or two heads-up on what were reading in the future from book to book?

message 25: by Tom, Supreme Laser (new)

Tom Merritt (tommerritt) | 1195 comments Mod
Boots, the kick-off *is* the heads up. Once we decide we announce it. Then we try to give enough time before we wrap it up to give you a chance to get it and read it. There won't be an episode this week so there's at least one, and I'm guessing it'll be a few more weeks before Veronica catches up with me on RP1. Reamde is a long one so I imagine we won't wrap it for awhile.

message 26: by Boots (new)

Boots (rubberboots) | 499 comments Ah okay, it kind of makes sense when I think about it that way, I just have to start reading faster.

Thanks Tom!
