Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion

Dear Authors/Readers,

Inspired by the idea of making reading and networking fun (and seeing the success of this group), Ashley Farrand and I have developed a site that we think you'll enjoy. The site itself is designed as open book format, and there are lots of features to connect readers with authors. It's called GenreBuds and it's free.

It's great to have you guys on the site! :)

If you're an author, you can add your books to your profile page and adjust that pencil icon to show whether you have a new release, upcoming book, or prior release.

All members can also custom that center bookmark with their virtual gifts and compare genres with each other.

I have trouble loading my books on genrebuds. I with it had a simpler format like the other sites. a search tab that searched amazon or did not ask for so many items before you loaded. Does anyone else have trouble? I love the site I just wish it were easier to use for a nontech lol

Hi Reading,

I should be able to help you out. If you go to the "settings" link at the top right of the site and then the "import" tab, you can enter Amazon's ISBN-10 number at the bottom and select upload. That should get the book on (no more fields required).

Vince, I'm also having trouble importing my books from a Goodreads csv file...the browse button is greyed out. Or am I just a complete tech-spaz?

Hi Kat,

I will be upgrading the import feature to make it more user friendly. In the meantime, if you cannot get the button to work, you can enter the book's name and select "add" to put it on your shelf.

Thanks Vincent! I was just trying to be lazy and avoid adding my 900+ books......maybe it's a good Sunday project!

Sure thing, Kat. I do understand when there are lots of books. It's one of the reasons I've put the upgrade on the import feature on the top of my list.

I signed up, but I have a couple of suggestions:

1. The "Tour" automatically advances. This is very annoying. Each page has a lot of information and images, but I don't have enough time to look at it.

2. I cannot skip the "Profile" tab and go look at the other tabs. Keeps going back to profile.

Hi Vincent. I tried to sign up with your site yesterday - it looks really good. I started creating my profile but I was logged out unexpectedly and it is not letting me log in again. Refuses to recognize email/password. Tried resetting password but that didn't help either. Can you help? Thanks!
