Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 1309 comments It would be easy for me to create a Google calendar with any books parts of the group decided to dedicate specific weeks to. It wouldn't be an obligation for everyone to read along but might be a nice reference point. Is that useful for anyone? I know I'm having a hard time keeping track of the books that people are planning to read in groups, because those conversations are happening a lot of different places.

If you're planning a week, just post it here and I'll create/update a calendar (unless there is a better way to do it within GoodReads).

ETA: Or just add the info to the discussions in this folder and I'll catch on.

I think it is more that I see messy things and want to organize them. Good thing I became a librarian! :)

Niledaughter Thanks :)
The Harafish in April .
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle in May .

suold I open threads now like the other books, or stay when the time comes ?

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 1309 comments Okay, so here is the calendar's beginning. Will this work? I will put the book on the first date, so for books assigned to a month, I'll just put them on the first day. Is that okay?

Mira (mirarad) i'm confused. What is the calendar for??

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 1309 comments Mira wrote: "i'm confused. What is the calendar for??" Some of our readers wanted to try reading some books together, since many of us have similar books on our list. Nobody has to do this, it is just for fun. I'm personally going to be out in left field reading whatever book looks the shiniest any particular week!

message 12: by Sue (new)

Sue Thanks Jenny for all your efforts for all of us.

message 13: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) I think that will work. :)

Anne (reachannereach) Barry, do we really have to wait one full year to get to Doctor Zhivago?

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 1309 comments Sure, I'll add it to October!

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 1309 comments I'd like to see a month for House of Spirits because it seems to be on practically everyone's list.

The months so far have:

January
Agaat

February
Poisonwood Bible
The Bad Girl

March
Wild Swans (March 15-April15)

April
The Harafish

May
Wind-up Bird Chronicle

June
A Fine Balance

October
Dr. Zhivago

Can we have a thread for it , can member do that or only Mods ?

message 22: by Anne (last edited Oct 30, 2011 10:02AM) (new)

Anne (reachannereach) Barry, I'm not going to make a big "pea" out of this, but Agaat won't take one month - we're supposed to be reading a book per week (ha ha - I know).

If I'm the only one who wants to read it this winter, then just leave it in October.

Niledaughter Judy wrote: "Anyone can start a thread, ND. Why don't you start one for The House of the Spirits? You can sign me up, its on my list."

I know , but I thought that "the groups threads " were made only by mods , it seems like one of my illusions :p

I will start a one for The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle now and think about "The house of spritits " later ;)

Betty Great African Reads is reading Agaat, taking two months, beginning it Jan 1, 2012. I'm reading it there, Barry.
