message 52: by Alexandria (new)

Alexandria (alexandriatheo) | 51 comments I feel like I used to read fast but then I read Pamela's post and I don't read fast at all! lol
I've never tried but I'm sure I could read two books a day. Usually most of the books I pick up aren't under 350 pages. On average I would say it usually takes me 2 days a book. A lot one or two, some five if I'm not into them.
I think I used to skim a little and I've noticed myself forgetting what the story was about so I've slowed down my reading. I'm making myself take my time lately!

Lorraine LOL Yea that would be nice. :-)

message 67: by Jojobean (new)

Jojobean It depends. At times it can take me like a week to finish one book but other times it can read 3 books in one day. It all depends on the time that I have. I don't skim read also

Joanne wrote: "It depends. At times it can take me like a week to finish one book but other times it can read 3 books in one day. It all depends on the time that I have. I don't skim read also"

I wish someone would teach me how to read a book in a day lol

message 69: by Anne (new)

Anne Mikusinsi (abghostwriter) | 42 comments It depends for me too. If it's a really good book, or the last in a series, I try to stretch it out.

message 70: by Juliana (new)

Juliana (julezrussell) Usually fast...if it's one I don't like, I force myself through it to get it over with and move on to something better. If it's good...well, there's just no stopping.

message 71: by NayNay (new)

NayNay I would have to say fast, I read a book a day and sometimes more.

And I just want to say I love this group...it ROCKS!!

message 72: by Tim (new)

Tim (timoerl) I'm really slow. It took me exactly one month to read Metro 2033, which has 438 pages.

message 73: by Shay (new)

Shay (icylilies) | 49 comments Hmm I say I'm in the middle. If I really enjoy the book, I can finish it quickly. The problem for me is taking time out to read. On good days, I can finish a big book (400 or more pages) in three days. Other times, it can take me months to read a books. I think it took me around an hour or so to read 40 pages. That sounds slow to me, what do you guys think. Hmm I'm going to have to time myself one day...

message 74: by Shay (new)

Shay (icylilies) | 49 comments Ok, I just read Pamela's post. I'm a very slow reader. We're talking turtles (though they tend to a bit fast when they want to be...lol)

yeah, time is another issue for me :(

message 77: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Ertuncay (sheriertuncay) I would like to say that I read fast but lets face it, I have three boys, a full time job and two cats. I read when I can but the kids seem to hunt me down to..well, there is no point sometimes lol. But I try to get some reading done in the evening before the hubby wants whats left of my time.

message 78: by Nikki88 (new)

Nikki88 | 23 comments I read pretty fast unless I find the book a bit boring then I try to read on to see if it gets any better but I read it slower than normal

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

Fast reader. I have my Kindle in my bag everywhere I go. Don't get me to read anything non-paranormal or non fiction because I fall asleep! :D

Lol I know how you feel, I cannot seem to get out of my paranormal book obsession! But their are some good books other than what I love to read but it also depends how I'm feeling at the moment lol.

message 81: by Kayden (new)

Kayden Lee (kaydenlee) | 37 comments I hate to say it, but I am a slow reader. Drives me nuts sometimes. So many people seem to read more than one book at a time - that is so not me. LOL00000

Kayden wrote: "I hate to say it, but I am a slow reader. Drives me nuts sometimes. So many people seem to read more than one book at a time - that is so not me. LOL00000"

Your not the only one! I wish I had the brain power to read to books at the same time. I tried it and my brain started to mesh the two books together lol. I forgot who was in this book and I thought this happened in that book.....it just didn't work for me so I now stick with one book at a time :)

message 83: by Maxine (new)

Maxine It depends. Sometimes I'll finish a book within days. Other nights I'll read a book once every few days, but when I do I read a lot of chapters, not just one. Generally I'm a fast reader:)

message 84: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (morgzsydney) | 28 comments Speed demon for the win.......

message 85: by [deleted user] (new)

depends on the book. If it's good, i'll finish it in one day, if it's, well boring, then a week, probably

message 86: by [deleted user] (new)

Terra Synn (terrasynn) | 239 comments I am a slow reader. I have ADD (not ADHD, I am not hyperactive) and have to really concentrate when I read.

message 88: by Bridgett (new)

Bridgett (bridgett-m) I read kind of slow cause I like to imagine everything perfectly which really messes me up. Therefore, I am learning how to scan read so it won't take me as long to squeeze in all the books I'd like to read!

Amber wrote: "Fast. I have to work on that though. I read so fast, I don't take too much of the book in, so sometimes I forget things after I read it. Or I have to keep going back to re-read pages."

I'm like that, too. I tend to scan when I read and then realize I missed something and have to go re-read a couple of paragraphs.

message 90: by Merry (new)

Merry (debsaux) | 6 comments It depends. Sometimes I read a book in one weekend. But there other time when I take months to finished.

message 91: by Patrí (new)

Patrí (calledyoumarie) | 5 comments I'm a slow/fast reader. Depending on the book. Sometimes I read slow because I just can't figure out the book. And when it's an easy read book I tend to get too fast. And I can finish a book with a minimum of 25opages in 8hours max. So yeah. I scan too, especially in boring parts.

message 92: by Belkis (new)

Belkis (bminaya) | 603 comments For me it depends on the book and how engaging I find it. If it's really good I'll read it at a pretty fast pace but I try not to skim through because I want to really grasp it and savor the great parts :) on average I read about 3-4 books a week, 11-12 a month. Allowing for the fact that some books are way longer than others. I've read 1-2 books in a day many times if I'm at home and the book is really good and I can't put it down LOL!

message 93: by Chelsea Denisse (new)

Chelsea Denisse (chelseadenisse) I'm a slow reader, it takes me about a week to read a book thats 200 pages or so

message 94: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Peterson reading Hide & Seek (Games of Zeus #1) by Aimee Laine

message 95: by Ami (new)

Ami Blackwelder (amirblackwelder) Depends on the book. With historical I tend to be more slow, but with paranormal or scifi, I tend to be fast.

message 96: by Jamiegirl (new)

Jamiegirl (jamesfraserslady) | 51 comments Definitely a fast reader. I can finish a book (300 - 350 pages)a day easy. Two books even if they're not tomes. Some books can take me up to three days but generally not longer than that. Unless I'm very busy.... I'm the kind of sap that MAKES time for reading. I don't have a husband or kids so I suppose that makes it easier.

Cobwebs-in-Space-Ice (readingreindeerproximacentauri) | 150 comments I average a book a day; but I've got a lot of interruptions because I supervise two grandkids during the day (3 years, and 10 weeks) and after school all 6 are here..but working around that, still 1 a day is average..it might take me part of 2 days to finish one. Of course, the longer Stephen Kings and Dean Koontz take me 3-4 days:) I guess I'm a speed reader b/c I constantly feel rushed, so little time, so many books..

message 98: by Christina (last edited Jan 28, 2012 10:57AM) (new)

Christina | 18 comments I think it really depends on the book. If the book is really unputdownable (does this word even exist? Sorry, I'm very insecure about my English outside classes)it can take me only a few hours to read it, but that also depends on how many pages the book has. I am something between a slow and fast reader. Sometimes it takes me months to read a book, though.

message 99: by Jamiegirl (new)

Jamiegirl (jamesfraserslady) | 51 comments If unputdownable isn't a word, it SHOULD be! :)

message 100: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Moorer (sherrithewriter) I WAS a fast reader until a couple of years ago when I got more responsibilities in my day job and started publishing again. Sadly, that turned me into a slow reader. And yes, it dismays me. I'd love to be a fast reader again!
