Anne Mikusinsi (abghostwriter) | 155 comments How many people hear would read a book like that with NO sex...I mean there's tons of angst and UST, and there is a scene at the end, I know. But is it really necessary?
My book is a werewolf book, make no doubt, but it doesn't have sex as a main focus. And it may, depending on where the muses take me, have a decidedly Christian bent. (My werewolves get their fur on through heredity,) am I barking (pun intended!) up the wrong tree?

Gail Koger (gailkoger) | 57 comments I would.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 461 comments No sex in a book doesn't bother me at all. I'd like to read more PNR that don't focus on sex.

message 4: by Christine (new)

Christine (christine007) I wouldn't not read a book just because it didn't have graphic depictions of sex.

But, I'm not going to lie, I like my PNR steamy and tend to gravitate towards that.

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 241 comments I don't read a book because it does or doesn't have sex in it. I read a book because it's good. But I also don't want to read a book where I'm constantly teased with sex. Either have it or don't unless it is an intrical part in the story where we need to be teased.

Mel (soireb) | 61 comments I'll read it I like books with great world building, the steamy parts are just a nice bonus ~.^ I'm curious, does it has a HEA? If not, wouldn't it be more Urban Fantasy then?

message 7: by Anne (new)

Anne Mikusinsi (abghostwriter) | 155 comments HEA? Sorry not sure what that means.

message 8: by Katie (new)

Katie (skateanddonate) HEA = happy ever after

to me it is about the chemistry and reactions of the main characters not the actual sex

message 9: by Anne (new)

Anne Mikusinsi (abghostwriter) | 155 comments Yes, it does have an HEA. I thought that's what you meant, just wasn't sure. :)

Nairabell | 193 comments Dumb question, but what's PNS?

message 11: by Anne (new)

Anne Mikusinsi (abghostwriter) | 155 comments Not dumb at all, seeing as I didn't know what HEA was--
Paranormal Suspense.

message 12: by Shelly (new)

Shelly (mashbay) I like waiting a few books in a series to get to it, like the Fever and Kate Daniels series.

Thank you :) In answer to your question - you don't need sex in a book for it to be worth reading. The Kitty Norville books (at least the ones I've read) are all "closed door" and it doesn't affect my enjoyment at all.

message 14: by Anne (new)

Anne Mikusinsi (abghostwriter) | 155 comments I love those books! Those are the ones Carrie Vaughn writes, right? :)

message 15: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashleycw) I don't need sex in a book. I agree that it should be related to the plot or characters, and I do enjoy some steaminess, but not when its the whole book. That's why I quit reading the Anita Blake books.

message 16: by Gail (new)

Gail Koger (gailkoger) | 57 comments I used to love Laurel Hamilton vampire books but then it turned into sex books with no story at all. Same with her fairy series. No story just non-stop boring sex.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments I don't need sex or particularly want it in a book but do want romance.

message 18: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Scott (michellescottfiction) I had always thought that PNR was steamier than UF. Either way, I love the build up, but don't mind the lights dimming down for the sex.

Anne Mikusinsi (abghostwriter) | 155 comments I have to say thank you to everyone who's responded so far. I've really been doubting the markability of my story. Next year is the year I've committed to getting at least a 1st draft finished. I'm so glad I joined her, and thank you all again!

Yup :)

I'm another one who quit reading Anita Blake. It just got to be waaaaaay too much, especially from Little Miss "I kill vampires, I don't sleep with them".
