L.A. Hilden (lahilden) | 106 comments I write romance so I thought to post my question here, since I didn't know where to tag it. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has used QR codes to promote their books. I was playing around on the kaywa site and created a code that links to the first chapter of my book. It is very cool. Now I just have to figure out how to use it for marketing. I don't really want a bunch of t-shirts, which is an option they give. I tried to paste the code on this page and it doesn't work, yet it allowed me to place it on my FB page. Now bumper stickers may be a great idea, but it's not an option. I wanted to know if anyone else has looked into QR codes and how they are using them.

Stephen Livingston | 58 comments I have a QR code for my short story collection "Kindling". I posted it on my blog: http://stephenlivingston.wordpress.co... but other than that I haven't used it. One idea is to physically post your QR code in places where people wait, e.g, bus stops, etc.
Best wishes, Stephen Livingston.

Karen Smith (karenrosesmith) | 23 comments This is so interesting and would like to know how to use them effectively. I've seen them on the shopping channels. So a reader could use it from a website? Putting them in public places sounds like the old give out bookmarks philosophy. Maybe that will come back again.

L.A. Hilden (lahilden) | 106 comments I would love to have some QR Codes made into window clings for car windows, since I don't care for bumper stickers. I certainly like the idea.

Patrick Satters | 40 comments the question would be how to use it. maybe something like extra content, like a short story or alternate ending? or a competition?

E. Milan (EMilan) | 34 comments That's an interesting idea. Using extra content is an interesting way to promote a book. I give the link to people, but a qr code might be a good idea. Plus, people are drawn to them. It's a good way to make people think, "hmmm, I wonder what that could be?"

Meredith Bond (merrybond) | 15 comments What neat ideas for QR code use! I love them. I've just put one on my business card and bookmark, which takes you to my website. But I love the idea of added content through a QR code.
Thanks!

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 26 comments Hello there,

I'm not a romance author (in my defence there is a strong romantic theme in the trilogy I'm writing) but I have been getting some QR codes, myself.

So far I've not done a huge amount with them but I have one which points to each of my books on Amazon - via my affiliate link - which I will have put next to the isbn bit on the back of my dead tree books and also, possibly, on the blank side of my promotional post cards.

I also have a page of information about some of the stuff in my books ready to go and I'm thinking of using a QR code to point people at that.

Cheers

MTM
