Kira (KiraRiyu) | 5 comments I imagine with the gap between books we all forget little details here and there. I thought I'd start a thread where hopefully we can help each other out.

My question is from a stray comment in Kate makes in Magic Gifts by Illona Andrews. It's inside the spoiler tag, just in case.
(view spoiler)

Thanks!

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Not sure that this is what you are looking for but in Magic Slays, chap 10 (view spoiler)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Great thread idea, Kira. I'm sure it'll come in handy for others as well. I'm always forgetting stuff, especially when there is so much time between books.

That's part of it...but there was something else that happened...I can't remember exactly, but maybe it was in Magic Bleeds... (view spoiler) UGH! I can't remember exactly and it is now driving me crazy, LOL! Gotta bump up the Kate Daniels reread!

Kira (KiraRiyu) | 5 comments Awesome guys! Thank you everyone!

(I'm starting to really see the value in ebooks--that find feature is something. But I own this series in paperback.)

message 9: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Here! Here! Well done, Vi!

I love the search feature in eBooks! And, like Laura Lulu, I sometimes use it to catch the insane amount of repeats within a book. But, it has a lot of great uses for sure.

message 10: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments LOL! I still haven't used it yet...have to try it out some time soon for some random fun search!

message 11: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments *Bows* ::grin::

And that is the best reason I love ebooks - Ctrl+F. I play with it often :P

message 12: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments *grin* Certainly a case for getting more of them!

Josie | 1967 comments Lol!

Okay this has been bugging me for days, maybe I've dreamt it but I don't think I have, it's just that little bit out of reach in my mind. I reckon it's a demon book (probably an obvious one at that :S), could be Sins of the Heart (Otherkin, #1) by Eve Silver ?

I think this is near the start:

A girl goes to see a guy (maybe her cousin?) in a bar. Someone in his family (could be hers as well) had just died. Police think heart attack or something like that but this guy thinks it's suspicious, that they were murdered and that he's going to be next. Thinks someone might be follwing him maybe?
Out in the carpark, man/demon appears, strangles guy. She can't do anything, pepper spray doesn't work etc. She shouts for help, guy dies, everyone says it was a heart attack, no one sees demon cos he disappears (or turns into a dog, can't remember).
She's back at home, thinking about drama, knock at the door, little girl (or could be dog but I'm 75% sure it wasn't). Let her in, quel surprise, it was actually the demon, marked her(?), it hurt, then... can't remember the rest...

Does anyone recognise it? :)

message 14: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Could it be First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) by Jeaniene Frost ? I can't find the book right now (and haven't read Otherkin, so don't know if you hit it there), but some of that seems like what happened at the beginning.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Josie, I do not know what book you are talking about but I am positive that it is not Sins of the Heart (Otherkin, #1) by Eve Silver . There is no dog involved in this story.

message 16: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I'VE READ THAT! ... end of excitement b/c I cannot remember which book it's from ... LOL! But, I'm on it! I have a mission and will return VIC-TOR-IOUS! ;)

message 17: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Ok, maybe I throw my party a bit too soon. Now, I'm thinking I'm confusing several books which fit pieces of your blurb. Waaah. I'll keep lookin' though and let ya know what I find.

So far I've got these suggestions, which are probably all wrong:

Kiss of Moonlight (Lucani Lovers, #1) by Stephanie Julian ~ little girl + dog + attack, but no dead family member + no "following"

Marked by Moonlight (Moon Chasers, #1) by Sharie Kohler ~ parking lot + mark, but no dead family member

message 18: by Vi (last edited Jan 24, 2012 09:40PM) (new)

Vi | 943 comments Certainly so. Another point to argue the case of ebooks with my family! :P

Judithe wrote: "*grin* Certainly a case for getting more of them!"

message 19: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Thank you everyone for putting so much effort into it! I only said Sins of the Heart because I couldn't really remember what happened in that book, lol!
Steph, it can't be those unfortuately because I haven't read any of them - are they any good though?! :)

Judithe, I think that's it! See, I was looking through all demon books and obviously wrote that off as a vamp book, completely forgetting that there's some kind of demon shapeshifter thing! Thank you! Oh the sweet relief. My mind can relax now :)

message 20: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments LOL! I've still got a burning need to find it and confirm! (Now wishing I had it on one of my e-reader apps....)

message 21: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I am feeling the same burning need, Judithe. MUST find it! LOL! I'm still huntin' for it, as I have the time.

Josie, I enjoyed both. But, the 2nd has received many mixed reviews.

message 22: by Josie (last edited Jan 26, 2012 01:17AM) (new)

Josie | 1967 comments I haven't got the book on me because it was a borrowed one from the library but I'm sure it was First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) by Jeaniene Frost ! My mind has stopped niggling me (which I don't think it would've done if it's not right) and all that waffle about the demon, dogs and little girls does happen at the beginning. I was just looking in the wrong place at strictly demon books lol.

Thanks, Steph, I'll check them out :)

message 23: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yep, it's First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) by Jeaniene Frost starts on page 1 Amber is the cousin who had died, Paul is the cousin murdered in front of Denise, Denise is the one marked. The Demon is wiping out the family bloodline in an effort to find one of her ancestors, Nathaniel, who stiffed him on payment.

message 24: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Whoo hoo! Thanks, Sandra!

message 25: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Thanks Sandra! Yes, it's all coming back to me - I'm going to have to reread it now, I remember enjoying it ;)

message 26: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments According to GR, I only read this last year. I really should've remembered it better lol!

message 27: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Josie, so many books, so much to remember!

message 28: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments YAY! Glad it was resolved. I thought Judithe might've been right when she suggested it, but didn't realize you'd never replied. My mind jumped to that not being right b/c the hunt was still going. LOL!

message 29: by Josie (last edited Jan 30, 2012 06:38AM) (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Sorry Steph! Didn't mean to make you do all that :/
Thanks for the help everyone, I spent a night racking my brain over what it could be lol, it was so fustrating!

message 30: by Lis (last edited Jan 30, 2012 03:53PM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I've got one.... Read a short story where the girl was given a drug that makes her irresistible to vamps, but when they bite her, her blood kills them. She is guarded by a soldier type guy she loves, but he is drugged to have no feelings to keep him from going rouge I think? She thinks that her current state is killing her, so she is seeking a cure and avoiding those that want to use her as a weapon. Sound familiar to anyone? Is it a good series to start??

message 31: by Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ (last edited Jan 30, 2012 04:13PM) (new)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments *jumping about, waving hands*

I know this one!
Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Michelle Rowen Bloodlust (Nightshade, #2) by Michelle Rowen by Michelle Rowen.
Read it and the sequel too. Very alpha male and the heroine dying part was cool too.

message 32: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Thats it! Thank you Valerie!! Just downloaded...

message 33: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Aw, no worries, Josie. Just happy it was found for ya! ;)

LOL Val! I'll have to read that one soon. I have #1-2 on-hand.

Judithe | 6566 comments TBRd!

message 35: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments I'm going to read Claimed By Shadow (Cassandra Palmer, #2) by Karen Chance but it's been forever since I read Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance . Can anyone recap for me what happened in book 1?

message 36: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments LOL Vivian, here is most of my review for #1 (view spoiler)

message 37: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments That helps, thanks. And I'm hoping (for once) that there's a good amount of recap in the book, lol.

message 38: by Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ (last edited Feb 13, 2012 07:58PM) (new)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Funny, I liked that the info was not repeated to death in this series. Well, it does in a way with all the time travelling going on....you dig up the earlier books to make sure that all adds up. There is always a little insignificant detail that kicks in the following book. Don't get me started, I love this series with all those historical characters...too much action going on I get winded just reading it.

message 39: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Normally, I get so sick of recap, but it's cause if I tend to read back-to-back. When there's a gap, my memory tends to let me down, lol. Not yet begun, but maybe it'll come back.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Honestly, the first book is the worst. Karen Chance would take a long frashback that dragged the story a bit. The integration of shifts are way better in the second book and the story comes together and flows smoothly.

message 41: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments that's good to hear. I remember the first one being a little disconnected with the info dumps.

message 42: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments @Val. Thanks, that's good to know. I kind of buried the rest at the bottom of my tbr pile, maybe I'll pull them out again.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments All Imma gonna say is that the action picks up on the second book and sets the tone of the series. Going back in time to keep people from changing it can have interesting consequences.
