Children's Books discussion

I am doing an event on my blog in March featuring famous authors and little known books of theirs, such as:

Don Freeman & my favorite - Beady Bear.
Else Holmelund Minarik - Little Bear series

Do you have any other suggestions of favorite books from the 50's & 60's? I'm looking for preschool age books in particular.

suggestion - make the subject line mor specific - 'favorite preschool books from the 50s and 60s' would work...
