Otis is the creator of Goodreads. If you go to the section in "my account" for blocked members I think there is a place for you to flag them as well. If you do that Otis or someone sees it and I guess they kick them off or something.

Meg, thanks for the warning and given the creepyness factor here, I'd report this to GoodReads and flag this person. It seems to go a bit beyond the dating/personals thing - and if someone is silly enough to email this person back, it could be a way for this person to send a virus back or hack into someone's ip address/computer!

With any luck they're all hiding in corners reading something highly literate and obscure. They do not travel in packs, that is why they are harder to locate...

So, my expectations are too high, then...?

Oh Amanda...the literate male...let me tell you a story.

I was in love with, no wait I still am in love with a truly literate man. That's actually what brought us together is books. We discussed books all of the time. We loved movies we never fought.

But, yes, there is always a but isn't there, he lives 2 and a half hours away from me, so, 6 weeks ago he decided he'd had enough of that.

End of literate male and literate female happy ending.

LOL....my literate man (sad) story...the first gift he gave me was The Bridges of Madison County. Need I say more? It was a cosmic clue of what was to come. (gender roles were reversed from the book)

My boyfriend is so not-literate (god love him, he does have other great qualities though), that on Tuesday I was at his place and he was going to take a shower. I decided to take the opportunity to lay and read in the 10 minutes I had alone. He's walking into the bathroom and glances over at me while I'm reading on his bed and give me this puzzled look. I ask "What?" and he said "You brought a book to my place?". I said "Yes, I always care it around with me, because I never know when I'll have opportunity to read". He says "Wow, you are the first woman that I've ever actually seen reading in my house". Yeah, that just gives you a great picture of who he has dated in the past...LOL

OK but you actually have to DO what she says. It worked for me. And I had some crazy things on my "wanted" list. Like I want to work less hours (lots less) and make more money. I want to be thru w/commuting forever. Etc Etc. And it worked.

If it worked for me, it can work for you. Seriously. get that book!

Well that is pretty much the whole story - but add "I want to have my own business" to it. And that's pretty much it. And they all happened. I'm gonna say within 1-2 years, everything on the list that was big came true.

Isn't it weird how this thread began, and where it is now??

My boyfriend has never actually sat down and read a book in his life. Honestly. Parts of it maybe, Cliff Notes for sure, a magazine, but no books. He just doesn't think its fun and really doesn't get why i do it all day but the important thing is that he doesn't mind that I'm doing it. So we work. ;)

I'm TBRing that book right now Laura. If it works miracles I'm doin' it. sign me up!

Yeah, for Vision Boards...I have one for the past two years, and several things on them have come into my life. How cool, it's almost time to do another! :o)

OK What is a Vision Board? I am totally clueless on that, but it sounds good!

Kristen, I always carry a book with me also. You never know when you'll be stuck somewhere for awhile and can use that time to read!

My boyfriend is also a non-reader. I took him to the library and picked out a book that I thought he'd like. When I showed it to him he looked at me and said, "What am I supposed to do with that?" :) At least he leaves me alone when he sees me with a book in my hand.

i guess i've got it pretty good. DH doesn't read for fun, but he was open to reading Five Love Languages with me... and has gone so far as to read it to me each night while i take a bubble bath. :)

Laura- lol! Problem is, we now know FOR SURE that we have VERY different love languages... He is Acts of Service/Words of Affirmation, and I am Physical Touch/Quality Time, and we both buy each other too many gifts even though neither of us find it's our Love Languages! :)

OMG mine and his are totally diff. too. His is Service and Time, mine are Words and Touch. I wish we were the same, it would be so much better I think. I am a very huggy person and I live in a house of non huggers, and I can say that sucks. But my husband has learned over the years to be more and more of a hugger. I just wish he would love it the way I do.

I know what you mean, chick. I wish he enjoyed touchy-feeley like I do! I can do the Acts and Words thing, but it takes more effort for him to speak my language.

yes. for me he wants me to clean. I hate to clean, but have to remember its his language. this is hard for me, but I'm working on it.

No, Ashley, I'm like that too. Not that I don't like to touch my bf, but he's much more touchy-feely than I am. He likes to sleep cuddled up (where I'm a "don't touch me, I need space, sleeper"), & he likes to kiss and touch me in public (which I'm getting more used to but I feel strange about it). I've never read the book you are all referring to, but I'd say just by what you all have said I'd be Service and Quality Time and he'd be Touch and Words. I don't know why I'm not touchy-feely (no abuse in my past) but I've never been a clingy, touchy person.

I am Words and Quality Time and my boyfriend is Service and Gifts. We are both touchy-feely so we don't differ there ;)

Laura, I'm a big hugger, too. My husband and daughter are not, but my son is, so at least I have one person in the family that hugs freely. I hug friends and extended family on a regular basis, like a hello. I think most people are fine with it, or maybe they just haven't told me to back off. My wonderful, beautiful daughter has told me that she really isn't into me hugging her a lot. She's a lovely person, just not a hugger. My husband, like yours, has learned to tolerate hugging.
