Jessica Dixon-Langford | 16 comments I am not ashamed to say I really loved this series. :)

Tawanna I loved this series too. It's one of my favorite.

Jacquel (clairevioletthorpe) | 78 comments I love Twilight and I cannot lie.

Angelique | 27 comments I loved the books so much and the movie wasn't up to the image I had in my head, which I was very upset about. I feel in love with Edward as soon as we met him, then in the movie... seemed like some emo kid.

message 56: by Jenn (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jenn I loved the books and I'm 36 yrs old. The movies aren't great and they really don't stick with the books. In the books I like Edward from the beginning but then my loyalty switches to Jacob and I've been team Jacob all the way since then.

Rayna Robinson | 8 comments what else is there to say but: well done Steph ! but the movie was under acted .

April | 236 comments I personally LOVE the Twilight saga. It is the series that got me into reading. I think there were def twists in the series and I'm a sappy romance book kinda girl who loves action sometimes. I loved that the vampires are "vegetarian" and that they don't feed off of humans, that was a definite twist. I love the saga. I first read it when I was 13, and I'm reading it for the 7th time. I'm now 19 and I adore this series so much! I think that Stephanie Meyer wrote these books well, considering she wrote it for teenagers. I love this series so much and it still stands as one of my favourite series to this day. Is it the best literature ever written? Well no, but it's well conceived and a very gripping series. I think that Breaking Dawn is a very well done book! I personally LOVED Renesmee! She's awesome! I love the books better than the movies, but the movies are not bad. I just love the books better!

message 59: by Jenn (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jenn The books are definitely way better than the movies. My favorite part of the movies were the wolves

Beka_68 I thought the book was ok. I got bored in some parts. And I liked the book better than the movie. It was good because I learned some new stuff about characters. But nothing extraordinary.

Smanzura | 1 comments I read all the books and I loved it

Harlee I remember loving all the books when I first read them, but I haven't reread them since. My favorite was Breaking Dawn.

Dylan White (dylanwhite) | 1 comments I got what Steph was trying to do with the books, but I don't think she succeeded. Not to take away her success because, you know, good for her! But I think the book was only a success because it was "new" at the time and everyone wanted it to be better than it was.

I couldn't stand Bella in the book. Even more so in the movies. She's keenly aware that her feelings for Edward are probably nothing more than him being a vampire and that's how they lure in their victims, but she doesn't do anything about it. She's way too weak of a character to be interested in.

And there are WAY too many contrivances in the story. She happens to go shopping in Seattle and happens to get lost and happens to find herself in the cliché situation of being surrounded by thugs and Edward just happens to find her and rescue her. That's the other thing for me. She was the constant damsel in distress. She had no control over her emotions or situations. I get she's a teenager and everything but she had no real strong sense of self.

Don't even get me started on the baseball thing. And how convenient it was that that's what introduced an actual threat to Bella. Until then, there's no real conflict. Not for Bella anyway. Sure, Edward might turn her into a vampire — but he won't. So there goes that conflict. Oh, but the Cullens might not like her. No, they're cool, so there goes that conflict. Oh, but there's Jacob. Except that's really a conflict between him and Edward, and even then we know Bella is going to end up with Edward so there goes that conflict. And THEN there's the conflict between the werewolves and the vampires. It has nothing to do with Bella. She is just kind of on the sidelines for that one. So there goes THAT conflict. So when Steph finally DOES introduce a character that's bent on killing Bella, it's 3/4 into the book and what does Steph have Bella do? HIDE! We spend two chapters with Bella in a hotel room in Arizona on the phone being told what's going on. Are you kidding? That could be the most exciting part of the book and Steph takes her main character out of it completely! Couldn't stand it.

Couldn't bring myself to read the rest of the series. In fact, my dislike of Twilight inspired me to write my own paranormal romance series so my daughter would have something better to read.

No offense to anyone who liked it. Glad you did. I know Stephanie is glad you did. And authors like me are actually glad you did because it blew this genre wide open for us. These are just my issues with Twilight.

Annie (AnnieAnnieAnnie) | 807 comments I have read this series like 5 times, once upon a time I couldn't think I would ever love another book. I was wrong because there are a lot more books which are way better!

Twilight's still awesome tough.

message 65: by Jenn (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jenn When I first read it I couldn't put it down . I have found some seriously good books other than twilight and when I went back to read twilight again I couldn't get through the 2nd book. Bella just seemed so whiny to me, but I'm still a huge Jacob fan

message 66: by Gail (new) - rated it 5 stars

Gail Campbell | 2 comments I was really hesitant to read this series, I thought "Vampires, I'm really not into vampires!" How wrong could I be! Now I'm not a young adult myself, rather old actually, but I love all types of books across many genres so I thought I'd give it a try, see what all the fuss was about. Well, I couldn't put it down, "I'll just read one more chapter," I'd say to myself at 1am in the morning when I had to get to work early the next day. Then, of course, as soon as I'd finished the first book, I had to download the next, and the next.

Some people say the books are not well written and are cheesy. Well the millions of copies sold prove otherwise, and if you personally enjoy it and it gives you pleasure to me the book has done its job.

So my rating of the whole Twilight series is I loved it, I think I might just start reading all over again!

Christina (littlecabbage) I personally loved this series. I think that the only reason it got so many haters is because of the sucky first movie that they made, Twilight -___- Yes, I am one of the many girls that had a thing for Edward Cullen.

Gladly, the next movies got better and better :) And luckily, I finished the whole series even before the movie came out wiiiw

Lauren | 1 comments My first real young adult book series that I read. I started it at the end of summer going into fifth grade and I (now in seventh grade) now have read the entire series seven times. No matter what haters say I will always love this book series! ;)

Maddison Levin (rad_101) | 19 comments Really enjoyable books but the host shows Stephanie Meyers skills more.

celine ☾ | 2 comments Okay, I thought Twilight was amazing. Some people don't like it because of it being so unrealistic or tacky, but i'm a sucker for romance so this was a beautiful book to me :)

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) When Twilight first came out I had already been a huge paranormal fan, so when I read it and knew there was already tons of better stuff out there I have to admit I felt bitter towards the series. I even forced myself to read book two just so I could see what everyone else could.

Bad characters, and horrid vampires. I remember trying to point people towards Mead and other authors and I'd get my head bitten off. And my reviews would get taken of Amazon. (Even though they were polite.) I still feel a little bitter now that everytime I say I like paranormal books people say Twilight. Meyer was not even close to the first, she was just what introduced a lot of readers to the genre.

Funny enough I don't mind watching the movies. More for laughs and some of the man candy.

Heather Kirchhoff | 15 comments I loved this series too. It's a part of one of the three books that made me want to write.

Lynne Stringer | 344 comments I'm a huge fan of Twilight. Reading those books inspired me to take up writing again after years of not caring about it. It was also years since I'd read a novel. Now I'm back to being a prolific reader.

Lauraeimre | 49 comments This is embarrassing. When I was like 10 years old, I really liked Twilight movies (kill me now). And then I finally picked up the first book and liked/loved it. But I have no interest in continuing this series. (And the ending of this series is a disappointment)

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) Don't be embarrassed. You like what you like, embrace it!

I'm a little confused. You said that the ending of the series was a disappointment, but how would you know that if you had 'no interest in continuing the series'? Did you watch Breaking Dawn or something?

Ok, I had the same problem. Except that when I was 10/11, somewhere around there, I loved the movies and the books. Now, I hate both the movies and the books.

Adita ✨The Slumbering Insomniac✨ (aditaprithika) | 15 comments I must be the only one here to actually say that I liked the movie better. Robert Pattinson was amazing, never in a million years will I cease to be his fangirl, and it IS BECAUSE OF HIM that I am actually reading the book.. You are gonna hate me for saying this, but I am gonna say this anyway.. Only Indian girls can see what a heartthrob Robert Pattinson is! He's been my secret crush all through high school and college! :D

I have only read the first book now, I am half way through New Moon, I already love it! I won't rest in peace until I complete the series! :)

Lynne Stringer | 344 comments Adita, I think there are many women all over the world from all cultures who love Rob. I know plenty. I too, credit him with me falling in love with Twilight, as I saw the movie first, but I appreciate both the movie and the book for the wonderful story that they gave me.

I totally agree with you. The hype is what made it so popular and what made so many people fall in love with it the first time. I tried to reread it and realized it sounded like a wattpad book! so crazy to me that I genuinely thought it was good writing. Can appreciate the idea, but I agree that Bella is a very uninteresting and stereotypical female character.

Sasha (sashasreading) | 64 comments I've only read the first book, but now i think I'm gonna finish the series because apparently Meyer's releasing a new book with Edward's pov

Josie Terstriep (josiet) I am rereading twilight

Jessica I've read ''Twilight'', ''New Moon'', ''Eclipse'' and ''Breaking Dawn'' translated to portuguese when I was younger but this year I had the opportunity to buy the books in English so I decided to read them again, I still need to re-read the last two.

After that I want to read ''The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner'', ''Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined'' and ''Minight Sun''.

tysha I have read the Twilight series and I love Edward and hate Jacob.
I agree with what others says that Bella's obsession with Edward is creepy and I found their relationship kinda toxic like they can't spend one day apart without feeling miserable
When I read Twilight I loved the series but I think I just can't bring myself to reread now that I know how much I hate Jacob and how toxic the relationship between Bella and Edward is. I loved when I read it but I just wouldn't reread it.
Also I think major turning point was when in the fourth book u realise that all of Jacob's love towards Bella was for an unborn child. like that really pissed me ofs as even though I hated Jacob I liked how protective he was towards Bella

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

I got into this series when I was 17 and love the romance between Bella and Edward. I particularly enjoyed recently reading "Midnight Sun" which is "Twilight" from Edward's perspective. It was so different and made me see parts of the book in a different light.

message 91: by Anna (new) - added it

Anna Melomed | 56 comments I just started reading the midnight sun. It totally creeps me out. I get these flashbacks to the movies and the STARING! I think i might even dump this one.

Na’Mya | 9 comments I love the movie but I love the book way more. Bella and Edward have amazing chemistry and in the books the relationship doesn’t make me cringe like the movies do.

message 93: by Michael (new)

Michael Selden I enjoyed the books, back when I read them. I didn't care much for the movie versions (at least the 1.25 films I watched).

IMO, the books—and thus likely the author's skill—improved from book to book. And, I read The Host and the latest independent book, The Chemist, which both show a maturing of the writing.

On the characters: Bella was overly dependent on Edward, and Edward did not really exhibit the emotional maturity of someone more than a century old, but hey, it was all in good fun and (as I said) I enjoyed the books.

Subhoshri (lectricedenuit) | 23 comments This was one of the series that got me into reading and stuff like vampires and werewolves were highly fascinating for me.. But after rereading it some years later, I didn't find it that amazing.. Though it is a relaxing book that you can read while not going too deep into it.. So overall, Twilight is an okay series.. At least they are way better than the movies... I don't wish to offend anyone. I'm sure many must have liked this series, and I'm just stating my opinion..

Izzy | 30 comments I have a love/hate relationship with this series. I loved it when I first read it, so I have fond memories. However, I have read much better books since so I have higher standards. I think Bella and Edward's relationship is a little weird. I still kind of like Edward though. He was a steady book boyfriend for a while.

✧Sarah Bora✧ (bibliophagist1621) I loved this series when I first read it and a lot of others did too........... because it's just an entertaining book.......that's it.
and in my opinion it is no more , no less.
But it didn't stand the test of time for most people when we started realizing that a story should do atleast a bit more than being just a timepass.......... Again more and more started realizing that Bella........(cough)

And in my opinion this is a series which showcases stupid teenagers making stupid desicions. THIS is not what is wrong.
But there are more things a book could offer than just being the wishful thinking of a teenage girl to become 'good'
Also the fact that Edward liked bella because he wanted to eat her didnt help

Anushka (bookish_swiftie) | 14 comments I didn't like Twilight at all. I don't deny that the story is bad, it's just that it's poorly written.
The characters could have been sketched more deeply and Meyer should have taken some time to analyze Bella and her character. There is hardly any positive quality about Bella except for the fact that she is ready to sacrifice herself for others. Which in my opinion is kind of stupid at times and many a times Bella is even selfish. Edward quite creepy and he stalked Bella before they even knew each other properly. The only character I found nice was Jacob Black.
Twilight also has numerous plot holes which would take a lot of time to list down, so I am not doing that. But anyone can easily see those glaring plot holes when they read the books.
I get that Meyer has tried to create a better image of vampires, but making them "sparkle" kind of drains all the scariness associated with these creatures. Also, I found the idea of vampires playing baseball quite hilarious, to be honest.
There are a dozen more things wrong with Twilight, but I am not wasting my time listing them down. And I personally would'nt reccomend Twilight to anyone, especially not young girls, to whom Twilight gives a very wrong message( Find an Edward and your life is perfect. Be wholly dependent on your Edward and don't stand on your own two feet).

Lynne Stringer | 344 comments I thought I'd commented here but it doesn't seem like I have so I'll do it now. :-)

Massive Twilight fan here. It's one of those books that I couldn't put down. I've already read Midnight Sun several times as well and enjoyed the insight it gave us into the story. It was interesting seeing things from another perspective, as Bella's so down on herself it's hard to see how strong she is, although you can't deny she's brave. And stubborn.

message 99: by Zara (new)

Zara | 245 comments Reading Midnight Sun was a very different experience. It was fun knowing the story from Edward's perspective.

jace (taylor's version) (jacespages) | 40 comments I haven’t read twilight yet, but I want to. Just so I can see it for myself there are lots of opinions on these books- so I want to read it before i judge them.
