I really enjoyed Twilight as well. I read all the books, including Midnight Sun. Stephanie Meyer gave the readers a different vampire story than all the rest. Instead of vampires feeding off of humans in the night, we have vampires who still have a bit of compassion and a conscience and the ability to 'love'. I thought it was a unique idea for a story.
I was a bit disappointed at the character Bella in the first movie. All the twitching and eye blinking and stuttering....Ugh...I was glad she became a much better Bella when the second movie came around.
I have a conflicted relationship with Twilight. I have fond memories of watching the films with my step sister who was a huge Edward fan. I also enjoyed reading Breaking Dawn but I was starting to notice some issues and Bella did get annoying in general by then. As time’s gone on though Edward and Bella’s relationship became problematic to me, Edward’s a stalker and seriously possessive and I can’t handle guys like that in real life so don’t find it romantic in fiction. I did try Midnight Sun out of interest but couldn’t finish it when Edward continued to treat her as if she didn’t need to know why she was in danger and they weren’t telling her what was going on and that wound me up too much.
The one thing I have to say about Twilight is EDWARD IS CREEPY! Like really incredibly creepy. "Oh hey Bella, guess what! I break in to your house pretty regularly to watch you sleep. Like a true psychopath." And that's only one instance in the series where Edward is ... not the coolest. IDK, I do love the drama, it's really entertaining. But everything else about the series is just... no thank you.
I read this series when I was a teenager and I remember being a major team Edward and loving everything about him, however, I recently re read the series now over 10 years later and I am not sure if it is because I am older now, so my taste is different but I started leaning heavier on being a team Jacob. I felt that their dynamic and friendship was more organic, it wasn't an instalove but it built up to that point. Just thought it was weird how preferences change over time.
