Stacy-Deanne Stacy-Deanne (wwwgoodreadscomstacydeanne) Hi All,

Wow. This makes no sense to me. I mean you start out as a gay friendly channel and now you are dumping all of the gay friendly programming?

On another note Soapnet goes off for good this month. Disney is turning it into a 24/7 Disney channel for kids.

I am shocked about Logo! RuPaul's Drag Race is one of my favorite shows! You can read about it here:

Best Wishes!

Kassanna | 12 comments Wow, I never expected LOGO to do that. I could see expanding the programming to include other shows along with their Gay and Lesbian friendly programming. Hmmm. As for Disney all of their stations are 24/7 and they already have a teen channel, kid channel, preschooler channel, adding another channel seem redundant.

Dee (Joycee) | 103 comments Logo is one of my favorite stations just because it does give a voice to the Gay Community.

Stacy-Deanne Stacy-Deanne (wwwgoodreadscomstacydeanne) They claim that it wasn't working out and they want to reach a bigger demographic. BS! You see they wanna change it into another channel full of reality shows so they don't have to spend money. Sad, so sad.

I mean television is already 80% reality shows! It is getting like searching for a needle in a haystack to find something that's not a reality show these days.

People don't wanna watch good programming anymore and only want quick fixes like reality shows. I guess they outnumber those of us who would like some quality entertainment.

This is why other than sports, and ID Discovery, I don't watch hardly anything on television anymore.

Television has officially gone to the dogs.

The FountainPenDiva, Old school geek chick and lover of teddy bears (thefountainpendiva) | 1216 comments WTF???

Where am I supposed to go for my Noah's Arc fix?

And yes as much as I hate to admit it, I love RuPaul's Drag Race. Some of those guys make me want to body-slam them for being better looking and able to step in seven-inch heels better than me, LOL!

TinaNoir | 1456 comments I actually think RuPaul's Drag Race is really cleverly done. It is subversive as hell. On the surface it is a fun, campy reality show. But Ru is actually putting a major piece of gay subculture in people's living rooms and you actually learn more than you might think about drag & queen culture. I think is is one of the better executed reality concepts out there.

I also love her guest judge panels. I just about fell out when I saw John Salley and Rick Fox. They were both wonderful, inciteful judges and and made some great points. John Salley has always been a bit of natural comedian.

Stacy-Deanne Stacy-Deanne (wwwgoodreadscomstacydeanne) Vix,

Someone said the same thing about Noah's Arc. They said, "Man guess I'll have to get Noah's Arc on DVD."

I don't understand this whatsoever, it's stupid. How can you change a channel completely? And what makes them think that what they start showing will be any better?

Yeah they'd be a fool to get rid of RuPaul. I think Ru's the biggest show they ever had. And yes those men look good don't they? I am not too impressed with the queens from this season though. Only two of them look good. The rest look to' up from the flo' up. I keep wondering where did they get THESE queens? Were these the guys that didn't make the cut the other seasons? ROFL!

Only a few are fierce. At least they had three big ladies this season. One of them was voted off this week. But I love it when the big girls get represented seeing how I am one. I hope a big girl wins one day.

But overall these queens of this season don't cut it for me. None of them are drop dead gorgeous like in the other competitions. One was so pitiful Michelle Visage got on her for not putting lotion on her legs! She claimed she bronzed them, please. ROFL! Them thangs were so ashy you could tell it through the screen! How dare a queen disrespect Ru coming up there with ashy legs? *shaking head*

The FountainPenDiva, Old school geek chick and lover of teddy bears (thefountainpendiva) | 1216 comments Noah's Arc was and is an amazing show! I mean after the lily-whiteness of 'Queer as Folk' it was nice to see good-looking, successful and flawed gay black men (not to mention watching Keith Hamilton Cobb get his freak on..YOWSA!!!).

OMG, ashy legs? Really? Ooh, smackdown time!

message 9: by Stacy-Deanne (new)

Stacy-Deanne Stacy-Deanne (wwwgoodreadscomstacydeanne) I agree about Noah's Arc. I think Logo is making a big mistake, changing a channel that's a sign of diversity into the same old whitewashed crap that's already on television.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Dumbest decision EVER! What the hell do they plan on showing now? Soon there wont be a LOGO network at all, I bet.

message 11: by Stacy-Deanne (new)

Stacy-Deanne Stacy-Deanne (wwwgoodreadscomstacydeanne) It'll turn into the same old crap. They plan to show reruns of shows like America's Top Model (as if someone really wants to see that), some reality shows made for LOGO (no surprise) and some home improvement shows. The SAME crap that's on all the other channels!

Is this what viewers really want or is it that networks are so cheap they all wanna move to this format? This is getting ridiculous with reality shows!

message 12: by TinaNoir (new)

TinaNoir | 1456 comments Well in my trip around the gay blogosphere yesterday, apparently Logo has already turned into the same old crap. While the channel started out as place to see some good alternative LGBT centric tv with re-runs of high quality scripted shows and some original programming, it had already devolved into a reality show bargain basement over the last two years.

Most people cite RuPaul as the only thing really anchoring them to the channel. Some have come right out and de-cried the channel with it's reliance on shrill reality shows and re-runs of Buffy etc. as not really telling their stories or stories of the gay community.

So it just sounds like it is just making the official announcement of a shift it has been making over the last few years anyway. At any rate, it sounds as if they've already lost a lot of their gay viewership and support.

The FountainPenDiva, Old school geek chick and lover of teddy bears (thefountainpendiva) | 1216 comments Good, I'm glad. I hope those who've appeared in Logo specials like Margaret Cho and Aisha Tyler speak out against this idiocy. Like seriously, do we need yet another reality show????

message 14: by Stacy-Deanne (new)

Stacy-Deanne Stacy-Deanne (wwwgoodreadscomstacydeanne) After a while there will be NO dramas, NO sitcoms, just trashy reality shows and competition shows. It's already like that now and every year more and more reality shows come along and dramas and comedies dwindle.

You see how dramas and comedies are cancelled at the drop of a hat these days. They can't compete because so many people wanna watch this trash.

message 15: by Theodora (new)

Theodora Taylor (theodorat) This is so upsetting. Though, I remember reading an interview with the executive producer of Noah's Arc in which he insinuated that the logo execs did not want to pay for the show and that they were beyond hellish to work with.

message 16: by Stacy-Deanne (new)

Stacy-Deanne Stacy-Deanne (wwwgoodreadscomstacydeanne) I think the entire station will end up being shut down in the end. It's their fault for not putting on better programming and not doing their best to keep the good shows they had in the past. Now they want a cheap fix which is just doing the same thing all these other cable shows are doing, reality TV.

Why folks think reality TV is a guaranteed way of success I don't understand. Most reality shows don't last past three seasons because people get tired of them. They are short-lived shows yet networks are cheap so they will keep throwing them on because they don't cost much of anything to produce.

Stacy-Deanne Stacy-Deanne (wwwgoodreadscomstacydeanne) If I was in charge of LOGO I'd had some good shows on there. I'd had some crime dramas on there with some gay characters. I'd had made-for-LOGO movies that weren't all focused on sex but were decent romances that spotlighted gay couples. I'd had some gay-oriented talk shows that focused on issues in the gay community. I'd had some gay shows focused on gay teens that would be positive so they could relate and learn how to embrace who they are so they won't fall a victim to negativity gay teens face in schools or society these days. I'd have some gay shows focused on minorities that helped them deal with being gay in their communities. The black community especially is hard when it comes to being gay.

I mean LOGO has been on long enough to where they could afford to create some good shows. They can't say they had to switch from focusing on gays. They just weren't creative enough to wanna come up with something good.

If I'd had that network, it would've been good. LOL!

Thats true Logo have been on the air too long, to not have there stuff together.Wow, how could a station created for gay and lesbian cancel all there gay programming. I think if it wasnt for Rupaul Drag Race they wouldnt have half there viewer, because thats the only reason I watch. Plus, they should've made a lot of money from that show.

That's why you're not in charge of LOGO, LOL. What you're talking about makes sense and well, that isn't what most network television is about these days. It's more about dollars, and reality shows are cheap to make. Not to mention most people are utterly shameless and have no problems behaving badly for money and their fifteen minutes of fame.

message 20: by Stacy-Deanne (new)

Stacy-Deanne Stacy-Deanne (wwwgoodreadscomstacydeanne) Good point, Vix. LOL! Maybe if these so-called execs listened more to the public they would get somewhere. I bet we could put on better programming than they can.
