Ann (annrumsey) | 16930 comments Interesting article from Publisher's Weekly. 24 books a year average person reading ebooks vs. 15 for print readers

Ann (annrumsey) | 16930 comments Quoted"Among those who do not own tablet computers or e-book reading devices, the main reasons people say they do not own the devices are: 1) they don’t need or want one, 2) they can’t afford one, 3) they have enough digital devices already, or 4) they prefer printed books."

Ann (annrumsey) | 16930 comments We know about recommendations!
"Overall, owners of e-reading devices are more likely than all Americans 16 and older to get book recommendations from people they knew (81% vs. 64%) and bookstore staff (31% vs. 23%). In addition, compared with the general public, owners of e-reading devices who use the internet are also more likely to get recommendations from online bookstores or other websites (56% vs. 34%)."

Susie Fevella (susieinks) | 1798 comments Thanks Ann...that was an interesting article! I love my Kindle because it's so easy to grab when you go somewhere...but I also love my pile of paperbacks and library books ;)

Ditto, Susie. Today I am taking a rare train ride into Boston (I usually drive but parking during the day is a bear, and costly) for Good Friday service. My first thought was to carry my Kindle, or rely on the Kindle app on my iTouch, but I'm actually going to take the paperback from the library that I'm currently reading Kissed A Sad Goodbye). Not sure why, when there are options that wouldn't require me carrying something around, except that it's lightweight and I'm enjoying holding a book and turning the pages!

my sister just bought a kindle - we registered it to me so she can read all of my books but the main reason she did it was because she found out she can borrow library books on it..:)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16930 comments Sherry; That is what DD and I did, her Kindle is on my account so we can easily share all books. I am loving the library loan feature! The only part I don't like is the lack of visibility of where I am in the queue for Kindle books from Overdrive's hold process.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16930 comments Carol: I think since most of my books are still in boxes (I know, I know) I am finding myself reading paper print less often than I used to, but with the Kindle app on my iPhone as well as my Fire and K2, it is just so convenient to read eBooks. The last book I borrowed wouldn't let me cross devices though and I ended up losing it before I could read it on my Fire.
DD was saying something similar when The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest wasn't on her Kindle(I had listened to the audio) She sounded a bit wistful about having a PB again.

ann- my sister and i tried to share a book- after i read it, she wanted to read it and it wouldn't let us both read it BUT i think that if you go directly to amazon's website, manage my kindle, find the book and click on the book, then you can send it to whatever device you'd like. at least i think that works..lol

Ann (annrumsey) | 16930 comments That did work! Thanks, Sherry!

you're welcome! we were experimenting because i had a book she wanted to read (library loan) and it wouldn't let us do it from the library website!).

Ann (annrumsey) | 16930 comments LOL, most of what I figure out is actually from experimenting!

Shomeret | 1490 comments I read my library Kindle loan book early because I only read on Kindle in New York for Passover. I didn't know how to return it early. Neither Overdrive nor the library website would tell me. But the button to return it was right there in Manage My Kindle on Amazon. I found that out by experimenting.
