Yes!yes!yes! exactly, it is usually really hard for me to choose the guy the girl should end up with, but for this book i soooo think Maxon is perfect for america!

Maxon is the easy choice

I like Maxon much, much more than Aspen. I hope she ends up with the prince. :p

Maxon because it grew completely out of friendship and it's the slow, constant love. I had the fast, head spinning love and was left devastated with two children by it. Her anger and saddness toward Aspen, I completely understood. I think he's a jackass and hopes he trips on his sword! I hated her for a moment when she forgave him, because he'll get angry do it again. They always do.

Maxon! I feel like it's OK to still love your first love when you're still close to it, but you have to take what you learned from that and apply it to the next love. If you get a next love. And Mer has a next love. Maybe. If she lets herself have it.

That's the point Chrystal that she needs to open herself up to it.

I can't really decide. Aspen seems like a really nice guy with a lot of heart. I really like Maxon too though. I'm worried that I want her to be with Maxon because he's the Prince-naturally that's what most people root for. If she was royalty though, people would probably be rooting for the underdog which is Aspen. I don’t think Aspen did anything wrong, he was just trying to do what is best for her. Things change now that he’s a solider, because that would make him a two. As long as one of them doesn’t die, or if they don’t get fed up with her indecision, she’s well off either way. I don’t usually have this problem, usually I can decide because one’s a jerk or just doesn’t click with the character. But, she seems to have a connection with both of them.

Maxon!!!! I love Maxon and think he'd be great for America!

I don't think it was a matter of deciding on honor, but wanting what was best for his love. When you really love someone, you want them to have everything. Aspen felt that America deserved more than a life of a 6.

I'm rooting for Maxon. That could be because we spent more time with him.

America's feelings for the two guys are different because (and I'm going to borrow a line I heard on a TV show called Larkrise to Candelford)what you want as a girl isn't always what you want as a woman.

The fact that Aspen says he will "fight" for America and Maxon is prepared to be patient until she figures out what she wants seals the deal for me.

I know this really isn't the place to be asking this question but I really want to know the answer... Does anyone know when the sequel is coming out?

I love Maxon. I'm totally with him in this book:)

Maxon all the way. Aspen comes across as a too young/impulsive/passionate (it can be a bad thing.) Maxon is an admirable character for the most part - he's dealing with a very odd situation with grace and poise. Aspen is...well kind of a big baby.

P.S. Does anyone see Peeta and Gale here or is it just me?

Now that I've considered it, I do.

I'm just afraid that Aspen has set a really disastrous precedent for himself by already considering himself unworthy of America AND breaking up with her for her own good. It just doesn't bode well.

It's different now though. Since he's a solider that makes him a 2, so he'd be able to take care of her.

The only thing I thought that didn't sit well with me when it comes to Aspen is that I thought it was really inappropriate that he started making out with her in the palace. It could have gotten both of them killed. Not to mention it was a little self-centered for him to think she didn’t have any feelings for Maxon when she had stayed for so long.

Totally agree with you. He was very selfish doing that, and that's when I started to hate her. What redeemed her was the end when she confirmed her feelings for Maxon but didn't choose. She understood that she needed time to make the right choice. I hope it's Maxon, but then I'm not the author.

I was pretty upset when they started making out, too. It was strictly part of the rules and it felt like a betrayal to Maxon.

The first connection I made was that Aspen and Maxon reminded me of Peeta and Gale. Although I thought Gale was more responsible than Aspen and more considerate of Katniss before he did something drastic. But Gale and Aspen were very similar in my mind. Then there's Peeta who reminded me a lot of Maxon besides the fact that Peeta was from 12 and Maxon is a prince. But the similarities were there all the same.

YES! Except I find I want to slap America for letting Aspen back into her bubble!!!!!!!! Maxon needs to kick his @ss!!!!!!!! I can't believe America would do such a thing to beautiful dreamy Maxon! (I feel very strongly, I stayed up till 1am finishing this book...) The moment Aspen came back, I knew it was just bad. It's so obvious Maxon loves Mer......are women really that niave?

Maxon! Peeta and Gale are both in here, its like she combined the Princess Academy and Hunger Games and made a whole new novel!

That's not necessarily what I mean though. It has to be in the back of America's (and our minds) that Aspen has already decided once that he's not good enough for her. He's already thought that he can't give her what she needs. What's to stop him from suddenly being insecure about how he stacks up against a prince?

I hate getting into "what ifs" too much because we aren't the author. And suddenly you're thinking of every scenario possible and it ruins the surprise of the book.

I have to say that I loved Aspen until he and America kissed in the palace. And then not so much.

I wouldn't say it's like Peeta and Gale either, but it does remind me of the typical choose between two great guys(poor America -_-). I think it was more obvious with Gale vs. Peeta because Peeta was by far superior, especially by Mockingjay. It kind of reminds me of Wings, because those are two really great guys, but you just can't decide which would be better for the main character. I think I'd like to get to know Aspen better. He seems like a great guy who just wants what is best for America. It's not like Maxon is perfect. I got pretty mad at him over what happened with Celeste.

I looooove Maxon. I hate Aspen and America for violating the Law during the Selection. Maxon is obviously in love with America. Though, quite honestly, Maxon deserves better, but certainly not Celeste. Aspen thought he did the best for Mer, but he obviously hurt her. I'd tell Maxon he was there and have Maxon kick his sorry butt.

I like Maxon, but that's only because we saw more from him and Aspen was out of the picture at one point.

At this point, America only loves Aspen so I don't see that changing.

I adore Maxon! Although, I hated it when America made out with Aspen; I mean he broke her heart and then decided to come back saying, 'Oh, I love you, again!'. It pisses me off. I hope America grows closer to Maxon. I don't really blame America THAT much for making out with Aspen because it is hard to get over your first love. Team Maxon for the win!

MAXON!!!! I will be soooo mad if she ends up with Aspen! I hope she moves on and gets over Aspen!

Maxon. He was was sweet and cared about America's opinion. Aspen let his pride stand in his way, and although I don't hate him I thought that he needed to leave America alone at the palace and live with the decision HE made to break up with her. It was his own fault that she was in the position of being single and therefore FREE to fall for Maxon. I thought it was cocky of Aspen to just assume that he could get her back now that his draft had worked out in his advantage and she would leave as a Three. The whole time it seemed like he was all about money, only wanting her when things were good. Whereas although Maxon had money he never cared about America's caste, but he valued her worldview and her experiences. I am rooting for Maxon.

OMG, I stayed up till 3.30am to read this book too!! It's just BEAUTIFUL. I reread the Maxerica parts over and over again to make it more real than ever, although it's kind of a habit of mine to read my OTC parts in all books.

If Aspen's draft hadn't worked out, then his pride would still have been in the way. If she left now, he would be able to spoil her as a Two.

If his draft hadn't worked out, he would have been more than uncomfortable with her since she was now a Three.

Maxon has hardly anything called pride. Even after he yelled at her, he apologized. Prince Charming, right there. GoRGeoUs!!!

I truly can't pick they are just too different to compare, but the one thing they both have in common is their love for her. They both want what's best for her, but it's all up to her decision, i think she made a mistake though by not telling Maxon about Aspen being in the palace.

I don't think too many people are torn. Maxon has got the vote of most people here. Besides, he is plain WONDERFUL. Aspen is plain annoying.

I love Maxon! I want him to end up with America. I was really mad when Aspen started making out with America and she didn't push him away! And her not telling Maxon about that is going to be a big strain in their relationship when he finds out. I know he said he could forgive her for what every she did, but i think he would of acted differently if she would of told him. I think if she really loved Aspen she wouldn't have feelings for Maxon and stayed in the Selection. She totally has all the quality's of a queen and I don't think she should let that go to waste.

Agreed. You kinda pinpointed the problem with Aspen. She was crazy about him which makes it hard for her to leave him. But about Max, he's just [quietly] crazy for America. and I agree with Noel up there, that America shouldn't let her qualities go to waste.

Whatever the problem is with Aspen, it just feels wrong that America should end up with him. Max would definitely be the best choice.

Honestly, I think it's because Maxon is a prince and Aspen is just normal. If it were reversed, and America were a princess, some people would probably want Aspen to be with America. He'd have the underdog aspect. It's just the prejudice people have been wired to. Course, I like Maxon more than Aspen, but that's only because we spent more time with him. From what we've seen of him, he hasn't done anything to make me not like him, other than the making out on her bed-but that's only because it was morally wrong. Besides that, he's seems like a great guy that really cares about his family. He takes on a lot of responsibility. When America started talking about how he cried over his younger brother being whipped, I really started to like him. Maybe Aspen will surprise people in the next book. Otherwise this form should be renamed "why Maxon is awesome".

In my review of the book, i said aspen once then changed his name to butthole for the rest. TEAM MAXON!!

Yeah, i guess Aspen may surprise us in the second book, but then again, Maxon may too. All we have to say for sure right now, is that the next is gonna resolve this partial vote. But Max is still by faar sweeter than Aspen.
