Angela I read Flush by Carl Hiaasen. To me this book had a very interesting cover with bright colors and a toilet seat on it, I could not resist reading it. As I was reading this novel I realized it was for a much older child maybe in forth or fifth grade. The story line and plot seemed to be too heavy for a child any younger. This book addressed a lot of mature issues such as death, divorce, being in jail, and murder. Although the author made the story line humorous, this book still might be too long and intense for any child younger than forth or fifth grade. The author wrote the point of view of the book from a young boy, which made it more directed toward children. I think a child reading this book would find it funny and suspenseful. It is a mystery novel where the two main characters, two children, crack a case about toilets for their dad. The author did a great job of making the ending shocking and suspenseful. Since this is a longer book the author had a lot of space to develop the characters, this was an aspect I felt the author excelled at. While I was reading this book I enjoyed how he explained and developed each character, I really visualized every character well. Overall I enjoyed reading this novel it was fast paced and interesting.
