Greg Scowen (gregscowen) My book has just been released in German. Help me push it out to them by downloading a free copy today.

Help me play a numbers game.

It doesn't matter of you don't speak German. If you go and download a free copy of my book at Amazon, it will help push Kiwi literature out to our German friends.

Greg Scowen (gregscowen) Thanks LaVerne,

And remember, you don't need a Kindle to help. You can just use an app or even the Kindle online reader: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html...

I've been away from my computer for a few days but before I left spent a lot of time sending messages to German publishers in the hope of persuading one to look at my own book. How did you get a translation?
Just got back to mountains of emails but it's the weekend so have to go out again now.

message 6: by Greg (new) - added it

Greg Scowen (gregscowen) I paid a translator 3000 EUR to do it. And I have promised her 50% of royalties on German version.

Other quotes were much higher, but the translator and I struck a good deal.

Greg Scowen (gregscowen) Thanks, Angie.

It has hit #1 on historical fiction and #2 on thriller. Currently #3 of all free Kindle books.

Pretty happy with results. Let's hope it turns into good progress into the market.

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments Greg, verstehen sie Deutsch ?
That's about my limit. Learnt it last night.

message 10: by Greg (new) - added it

Greg Scowen (gregscowen) I'm fluent. I work in German (converse with workmates and customers, etc) but I write my e-mails etc in English.

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments I think in that case, when I get to Frankfurt, I'll follow you around like a shadow.

Melinda Szymanik (writermel) | 175 comments Oh, I would love to be going to Frankfurt this year. Some of my picture books are going but I'm not sure about the YA. Would be brilliant to be there with the NZ contingent.

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments If you decide to come Melinda, get in touch with me. My contact details are all on my web site at . . .
www.tuiscope.co.nz
There is a group of kiwi authors all staying together in the same hotel in Frankfurt. You might as well join the gang.

I just found out that I'm going, which is so exciting. Tui, where will you be staying? I think I'm in the Frankfurt Ibis. It would be fantastic to meet you ad the other Kiwi authors there. Catherine

message 15: by Tui (new)

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments Catherine, contact me at [email protected] and I'll give you the details of where we're all staying. I also hope we can all meet up and we're sure to meet at the NZ pavilion if we're all gathering there in the daytimes. I'm even wondering if we could have a bit of a gathering before we go to Frankfurt, just to get to know one another. Are most of us in Auckland? I'd be happy to go to Aucks to meet you, but if some are in Welly, maybe we could arrange a half way place like Taupo to get together for lunch.

Tui Allen (tuibird) | 283 comments Greg might find it a bit difficult to join us for lunch but we could even skype him in, if we're clever enough. Greg, do you have skype?

message 17: by Greg (new) - added it

Greg Scowen (gregscowen) I do have Skype, but with the 12 hour time difference (or similar) it gets really awkward.
But I will definitely be keen to meet up with everyone when you are all out here.

message 18: by Rae (new)

Rae (raeroadley) Hi Tui,
Hope Germany goes well. My book is one of the 'Frankfurt Forty' but I don't have the means to go to Germany. If, say, you're meeting in Auckland, I'd love to come along so I can make more sense of the whole thing. I'll email you... Best wishes, your books sounds wonderful. Rae

message 19: by Rae (new)

Rae (raeroadley) Hi Greg, As I follow your blog, went to Amazon to download - saw your book was in German and didn't - got your message to download anyway too late. But... good for you - glad it worked out. Best wishes, Rae
PS: My book publicity has led to a Country Calendar programme about our lives here at Batley, 11 August - titled 'Time and Tide'.
