Eileen Ohara | 2 comments Hello everyone, My name is Eileen from Upstate New York. I'm a librarian who worked at a college for 25 years and I now own my own business - doing research and/or developing, organizing people's private libraries for them. Love my job! History has always been my interest, particularly American and English history. Looking forward to the discussions and book recommendations. Best wishes to you all.

Bryan Craig Welcome, Eileen and David. Glad you could join us.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is how the book should look:

JP Hey everyone! My name is JP and I'm a 20 sophomore going to community college in Cape Cod, MA. I (like someone else who posted recently) found a love of history while reading Declarations of Independence, by Howard Zinn. Declarations of Independence Cross-Examining American Ideology by Howard Zinn Howard Zinn

From there I've hit the ground running and since I'm applying to transfer to a bunch of top tier (or almost top tier :-P) schools in the fall, I've really tried to learn as much as I can about as much as I can. I'm a History major right now, but I'm planning on (at least) double majoring when I get to a new school (either in Political Science or Economics). I'm very interested in the history of economics and conflicting political systems, and so that's where most of my study takes me. I recently finished John Adams, by David McCullough John Adams by David McCullough David McCullough and the next book I pick up to finish will be the History of the Pelopponesian War, by Thucydides. The History of the Peloponnesian War by Thucydides Thucydides Lookin forward to the group! :-)

Mark Mortensen Welcome JP to the History Club. Cape Cod Community College is an excellent educational institution as witnessed by the many fine college professors, who have chosen to live with serenity on Cape Cod. I resided on the Cape for several years and your post brings back fond memories of the beautiful sunsets, sunrises and the great native folks along with the solitude of reading books on secluded beaches and rock jetties. I encourage you to soar!

Bryan (rustwarrior) | 1 comments Hello, my name is Bryan. I'm a 43 year old with 2 kids who reads nearly only non fiction when my schedule allows. I have lived my entire life in Northern California and was a political science major 20+ years ago. My love of non-fiction most likely came from when I was a paperboy and took time to read about sports then expanded to news and world events.
I usually pick a book about something, place, or time that I know little about.
I am always hoping to find recommendations for new books.

I'm thrilled to find a group of people who don't think me odd for reading 95% non-fiction.
