Eric | 14 comments I have a few questions about how this book should be treated. There are 5 editions in the database. One is the complete edition, 2 are kindle editions of the same book but broken into two halves, and two refer to ebooks in two halves that as far as I can tell don't exist.

Here is the breakdown:

1589581036 - Hard cover edition. This edition looks fine.

ASIN B005FRGAFM - Kindle edition, Part 1. Same content as the first half of the hard cover edition.

ASIN B005FRGG42 - Kindle edition, Part 2. Same content as the second half of the hard cover edition.

0013180274 - Part 2, ebook, Appears to be an invalid ISBN. The ISBN/ASIN number doesn't match anything I can find. This ISBN shows on a list of books by Charles R. Harrel on www.openisbn.com but if I click for details the link is broken.

0013180266 - Part 1, ebook, Purports to be a Kindle edition although the ISBN/ASIN number doesn't match anything I can find. This ISBN shows on a list of books by Charles R. Harrel on www.openisbn.com but if I click for details the link is broken.

Finally the quotes in the titles seems to mess up the search. I can't seem to find this book when searching by title unless I exclude the first portion of the title. The quotes belong in the title, but they seem to mess up the search engine.

So my questions are:

1. Part 1 and part 2 be separated as different books?

2. Is there a way to make this book searchable without removing the punctuation from the title?

3. Should the part number be included in the title in parantheses as it currently is on three of these editions? If so, is that treated like a series and how can that be avoided?

4. If these are separated (depending on answer to question 1) is there a way to link them together as related books?

Amara Tanith (aftanith) 1) The whole book, Part 1, and part 2 should be split into three separate books.

2) Not sure. I'll look into a bit more, but I don't think I have a solution for that one. Yeah, I have no idea. Maybe someone else will...?

3) "Part 1" and "Part 2" should stay, but if they remain in parenthesis, they will be treated like series information. I'd say just remove the parentheses.

4) You can link them together as a series. An example of such a case can be viewed here.

For those books, if you look at the ISBN-13, it starts with 294. Those are Nook editions. Barnes & Noble assigns their books a 13 digit BNID (similar to Amazon's ASIN) that start with 294. The ten digit number is nothing and should be deleted from the books. B&N won't even recognize those ten digit numbers if you search on them. However, it should find the 13 digit 294 numbers (assuming the books are still in print/for sale).
