What a great group-so glad I found it. I've just completed my first book for middle reader boys (after spending many years on the edge of the screenwriting industry). Glad to have officially made the switch and look forward to being part of this community.

Hello everyone! I'm going to show my ignorance and ask, what is a chook? :)

Our dog has puppies so I'm going to claim that we have 8 dogs. :) Thankfully, they are all already *sold* but my kids are going to need lots of tissues for their tears soon.

Brian Barnett (brianbarnett) Hello. I'm a new guy. I've been writing for several years now, but my first middle grade book has just been published via "Twenty or Less Press".

Middle grade fiction is very important to me. It was when I was in that age-range that I truly discovered the wonderful world of books. I was a reluctant reader in the beginning, but thanks to "Phantom Valley" and "Goosebumps", I have never turned back.

Now I find myself inspired to write for the same age group and I LOVE IT.

Just here to say hi. I didn't want to join the group and just float around reading everyone elses posts without first introducing myself.

Take care,

Brian

Rory M. S.W. recently posted about this group in the group I moderate so I thought I'd officially introduce myself. I've been a member of this group for a while but I usually just lurk as YA Reads for Teachers (And Any Other Adults) keeps me busy as well as my day job as a middle school Language Arts teacher. Here a link to my group - stop by if you are 18+ and enjoy young adult literature (with a sprinkling of children's literature and middle grade literature too)!

I'm an MG fantasy author who's always searching for that next great MG read, so this group seems awesome. Looking forward to getting to know you all. Oh, and I got here via Heidi Grange's (GEO Librarian) kid lit hop. :-)

Hi LJ, thanks for your comments! I like Wonder, Potterwookiee, Origami Yoda, anything by Jack Gantos, anything by Haddix, I'm sure I could name a bunch of others, but this is off the cuff, as you suggested!

Hi, I'm Rebecca Douglass, and I'm a part-time library aide, so I do a lot of recommendations for kids. I love to read at least certain types of middle-grade lit, so it's nice to find this group.

I have also published The Ninja Librarian, which is really all-ages fiction, but has found a nice audience among upper-elementary students (and their grandparents. Go figure).

I've got a lot of reading around to do here!
