First of all...Heathcliff is a psychopath!

What I liked:

The external narration from the point of view of Nellie.

What I didn't like:

The massive amounts of vernacular dialogue. I get it...you're in northern England. We understand you all speak with an accent. Can we not have that as understood please?

A few comments on the characters:

I was waiting for the redemption of Heathcliff for most of the book. It was given at the end...sort of. In a very weak way. All in all, he's still a psychopath.

Hareton confused the hell out of me. Why would he love Heathcliff and mourn for him at the end of it all when the man ran him like a ragdoll for his entire life. There is some sick hidden backstory here.

Cathy Linton was just a complete bitch. How she comes out of it at the end smelling like roses is beyond me.

The most honest persona in the book is the old butler! And he was a total creep! But at least he was a creep all of the way through.

And yet the book kept me engaged all of the way through. Very good read, but what the hell was this genre??

Gothic twisted romance? Almost vampire wannabe fiction? Fight Club on the moor?

Definately not what I was expecting.
