H. Brian (thefaceonmars) | 4 comments Hello all. I'm looking for a few beta readers for my upcoming sci-fi novel, Secrets of a Universe: The Mindkey Project. My editor, Tricia Kristufek told me to see if any of you fine folks would help out.
:)

Stephen St. Onge | 117 comments         Tell us more, please.  About how long is this novel, what kind of timeframe are you needing, what kind of advice on it do you want, and especially, what kind of feedback do you not want?

That last is important, btw.  I did some reading for a friend who wanted feedback in certain specific areas, and felt that being told about stuff outside those areas was akin to hinderance.  Again, some people will want to be told 'You have a problem with X, and I think you should do ...' while others think the proper punctuation of that sentence is a period after X.

So, let us know a bit more about what you need, in order that we may serve you better.

Here's the blurb, first of all:

Krystal Taylor has been under the military's thumb since birth. Her power of astral projection requires it -- without daily Mindkey treatments, she will die a horrible death. She wants freedom from her leash, the freedom to let her flesh and blood, not just her mind, experience the world.

While on an unauthorized hiking expedition, designed to give her some space from her spying duties and the hundreds of government agents and prying scientists who keep her alive, she is captured by a band of terrorists, threatening much more than her life. Unless Dan Parker, the director of the Mindkey Project, and Dr. George Larkin, its key scientist, can reach her in time, the entire planet may fall into the clutches of the worst terrorist mankind has ever produced.

From the farthest reaches of outer space to the inner depths of the planet Earth, every soul -- dead or alive -- waits, unknowingly, for Krystal to be found -- or turned into a weapon.

**

The novel is about 240K. I'm looking for general feedback (story, plot, characters). I know it still has grammatical errors, since it is also with my editor right now, but I need to know how the story flows, is it enjoyable, and if it's too slow or too fast in places. I can provide a PDF of the book, though it is as of yet unformatted (editor is doing formatting as well).

Thanks in advance.

Harshmurmur | 1 comments Hi, I'm new to the site, but I am an avid, discriminating, over-educated reader. With the understanding that I am not a writer myself, I'd be happy to read and give feedback from that perspective if you want to send me a PDF. Michaelbobjnk at g~ m~ a~ il dot coom (I trust you can interpret that google mail adress and won't think I am an idiot, just a hater of spam bots). Either way, good luck.

I would also be happy to help if you would like anymore readers. Please friend me for my email address. The premise sounds very interesting. Congrats on your first book!
