My heart bleeds as I stand dying begging for your mercy,
You forsake the one who truly cares without a second glance,
Soul destroyed and devotion crushed into splinters that pierce,
Years of longing, yearning to be close to you is now futile,
Giving yourself body and soul to another undeserved individual,
I scream out with such wrath as to exhaust myself,
A spirit crushed, entirely demoralized all hope now fades,
Brightness and beauty wilts and diminishes leaving an empty hole,
You were forever present for so long and now you linger within my mind,
Like a ghost that haunts my thoughts but is untouchable,
Unreceptive and detached you now are a stranger to me,
True love vanishes at a blink of an eye leaving only memories,

My heart bleeds as I stand dying begging for your mercy,
You forsake the one who truly cares without a second glance,
Soul destroyed and ..."
That was beautiful, Lucinda.:')

Denial
I creep down the hallway,
And peak around the bend.
My stomache does a somersault,
For I see you once again.
You are extremely rich,
And you look simply divine.
You are irresistable,
And your smell is just sublime.
"No!" I do tell myself,
"Remember when he did that?"
I nod as memories break my heart,
You used to make me feel like crap.
But I always give into you,
Every single time.
Now I feel you, drawing me close,
As you sit there in your prime.
I begin to walk towards you,
All these lies that I create.
None deter me, I take a slice,
Of you, my rich chocolate cake.

Denial
I creep down the hallway,
And peak around the bend.
My stomache does a somersault,
For I see you once again.

*Claps* you guys make so nice poems:)

But still, I saw her with you.
I saw her run her fingers through your hair,
But still, you didn't care.
You were with her in her house,
You were being quite and sneaky from me like a mouse.
And when I found out I went my room,
I thought I was never going to be myself again, like a flower that will never again bloom.
I treated you right, but still you weren't fair.
And now I always feel this heaviness in the air.
I wish I never was yours,
You've been lying, all this time under my nose.
He doesn't deserve you. They say.
But I still feel my heart break everyday.
I feel it bleed and cry in pain and sorrow.
Please, come hear and heal it maybe today or tomorrow.
The silence in my room covered me like a second skin,
Now I'm always grim.
I'm filled with denial of choosing you,
I'm filled with denial trusting you!
My life is full of sorrow because of the wrong choice I made.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. :)

Wonderful imagery - that is exactly what certain silences feel like...as if they are clinging to you. Very raw and well put!

The word 'forsake' brings so many raw, emotional images to the forefront of the mind - beautiful!!

And it's funny too! You show that things may not be all as it seems denial means it's supposed to be emotional and dramatic and stuff like that...you proved it wrong...in a good way!:D

Thank you Booknut...i do try to pick the words that i use very carefully, and especially in poetry where 'less is more'

You're very welcome Lucinda! You are very talented and deserve the praises!!!

I'm looking forward to reading all of your responses!! Especially as I am not talented at all for writing poetry! Example:
The duck ran out of luck.
Got hit by a truck.
The driver said "OH ...."

Haha thanks Lucinda! That's very kind of you :) And the 2nd poem you've ever written was awesome!!

Really?? I thought it was quite good! I am very surprised that it was only your second poem!

Wow! That is amazing! It is an amazing poem:) And yes, that is very true.

As I'm sure you can tell I absolutely LOVEEE reading, and I also enjoy poetry too, but I have the hardest time understanding it sometimes! So I don't always enjoy it that much which is sad

Reading is amazing, as is poetry:) I love the hidden meaning that can be found:)

Agreed!! I just have a hard time finding the hidden meaning :)

Ya sometimes it can be difficult. It depends on the poet I think.

Definitely!! :)

:D
I'm terrible at poetry, but I give it a shot occasionally. My newest flop is "I thought I saw a blade of grass But my eyes were fooling me I thought I saw a wisp of spring But that it cannot be."

That's really good!! Add a little more to it and you're on your way to a poem!

Each month, I will set here a theme. Feel free to post up as many poems as you want, of your own composition, that are connected to, discuss, or feature the chosen theme. The person with the best poem will:
- Get their poem featured (credited to them) on my blog
- Receive a PDF copy of Tennyson's Early Poems (which are magnificent!)
- Get to choose the theme for the following month
This month's theme (ends on the 2nd of August):
DENIAL
So get those mind cogs whirling and I can't wait to see what you all come up with!!
