Versha I have got so much obsessed with Pride and Prejudice so many times that… When ever I read this book or listen to it (Audio book) I go crazy about it…I go on reading or playing my favorite part again and again specialy the part with Lizzy and Darcy in it . I also love watching the movie and the series over and over like so many time that… I get involved with all the charaters specially Lizzy and Darcys' so much that I can’t explain...
Has this happen to any of you? Or am I the only crazy one here??

Nehal Emad i've been watching the movie(the one with keira knightly) and each time i fall deeper and deeper in love with it and the book is so amazing
i've become addicted to the characters and i know there's no cure
i don't know a thing about a series??!!!
is it like the movie???!! could u give a link to watch it:):D:D

Isabelle Nehal - BBC did a TV series on Pride and Prejudice back in 1995. I really liked it and will watch it again in the next weeks!

Yessss! It's only one of the best books EVER!

Ainur i just finished the books last May and I fall for the story even more after I watched the movies few weeks after that.
I'm going to read it again!

Kressel Housman I was obsessed way back in 1980 after watching the Masterpiece Theatre version and subsequently reading the book and became obsessed again in about 2002 after re-reading it again. At that point, I got into fanfic.

Nina Rossing Several times, and it does not end!

message 8: by Marga (new) - added it

Marga I LOOOOOOOVE THIS BOOK and the movie as well. I am planning to read Mr. Darcy's Diary soon. :)

Maggie You guys should check out the Lizzie Bennett diaries on youtube! Its quickly becoming my favorite adaptation of P&P

Marisa Um Yes! I am currently obsessed with Pride and Prejudice and its been about 6 months since I've last read it. The movie with Keira Knightley is my favorite movie of all time. The book is my favorite book also. :)

message 11: by Erin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Erin Brady I actually love this book. It is one of my favorites and have watched the BBC miniseries as well as the Keira Knightley movie version and all other movie variation of it. I recently watched Lost in Austen which I found to be very humurous variation on Pride and Prejudice.

Briana Oh yes, I am obsessed right now in fact with everything Pride and Prejudice! My first time, I think.

I watched the 1995 BBC series through in two days, then I watched the 2005 version (BBC is so better), then I started watching the BBC series AGAIN... I am reading The Confession of Fitzwilliam Darcy, I am listening to Pride and Prejudice on tape, I downloaded the BBC series soundtrack on my MP3 player...

Yes, I have become quite obsessed. I've never been crazy about Pride and Prejudice before, but I find myself falling more and more in love with the story (mainly Darcy and Elizabeth and Bingley's) as I repeat it.

message 13: by Lora (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lora I've never been much of an Austen fan, but recently I 'discovered' P&P with my 12 yr old daughter. We read the book together and watched a couple movie versions before deciding that we love the Kiera Knightly one best. Then in the winter we had a Jane Austen day, with the movie, a tea party (with our antique tea set), and our longest flowingest dresses. It was fantastic.
I still don't like Austen much, but I can see she's good. However, P&P seems to have this unique magic that eventually even got me under its power.

Elizabeth Pride and Prejudice is tied with North and South for my all-time favorite novel!! I first read it when I was 14 and now 8 years later I still read it over and over again. It's a wonderful story, full of interesting characters, laughter, and of course romance! I will always cherish this book -- Pride and Prejudice inspired me to explore Classic Literature, which is now my favorite genre! So no you are not crazy -- you're right up there with thousands of others ;)

Koleen Hansen No, I haven't obsessed over Pride and Prejudice but I injoy the novel and I can be over obsessed at time but Pride and Prejudice is not one of them in the past or present and I could not forsee in the Future that I would development a crush

message 16: by Kru (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kru I was in high school, when I first read it, I had read and re-read it more than 18 times continuously, borrowing from my library, until the librarian strictly said I can borrow any book but not this :)

I am mad about the conversation Lizzy and Darcy have, when he declares his love, and she quips, he would be the last person in the world, she would ever fall in love with.

Audrey Crawford It's like a drug, and it just gets worse every time. As a young, single woman, I still can't figure out if Jane Austen's creation of Darcy has helped to improve my standards for men, or just made them too high.

Anyhow, I'll never stop reading this book, watching ANY rendition, and loving it ad nauseam.

France-Andrée I got obsessed with it alright... I had my mom make me an empire dress, I made my hair in a bun with long curls in the front. Like everybody I love the scenes between Lizzy and Mr. Darcy; the last time I reread it almost a full decade after the first time, I understood things more from the Darcy point of view. Also Lydia's story always touched me, it's so sad how she squanders her life over her silliness. It's a book I'll always want to reread one more time.

Mayan This is one of my favorite books of all time and my favorite Jane Austen novel. I don't care much for the movie with Keira Knightley. But I've watched the originial 1940's movie, the one with Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson, more than a dozen times!

message 20: by Asia (new) - rated it 4 stars

Asia Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book. I love the irony, the simplicity, it calms me down, and I mostly love, of course, the couple. Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy are a great double sided couple, not the "bossed" man over the woman, like it was common at those times. I read it numerous times.. and watched the same extensive number of times the BBC series and the movie. For some mysterious reason it captures me. I am not a truly romantic person, but I do love the atmosphere. The conclusion of not a "non realistic" happy ending, but an ending, even if I am aware still not that realistic, transmits happiness and I consider it a proper ending.

Could someone truly help me understand why it captures so much? Many do not agree, but it is I think not only the romantic side of it, just as whole it's never a book that people forget. Because of this book I am obsessed with Jane Austen..also bought her biography. Should I start to worry?

Library Nymph I've never been obsessed with Pride and Prejudice, but I have been obsessed with Sense and Sensibility. I read the book twice in one year, and watch the movie with Kate Winslet over and over and over. . . :)

message 22: by Lisa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa I've been so obsessed with it that I've posted quotes on my facebook status and I've taken to using the language in everyday life! Lol!

message 23: by Vicky (new) - added it

Vicky I thought I was the only person that this happened too. I'm all about Colin Firth as my Darcy. I P&P once a year at least it is my all time favorite book. I am glad to know other people are the same way.

Nitisha yes yes. I'm obsessed with Pride and Prejudice since the time I read it. I don't remember how many times i have read it. In fact, it's very difficult to say if I like the irony or plot or the character lizzy. I so much like the proposing letter that I too proposed in a similar manner. :)

Victoria When I first saw this movie. I was cozied up in a little blanket fort and I fell asleep. It was the version with kiera knightley (my personal favorite). I watched it again maybe a year later and it was love at second sight. After that I have watched many versions and also love the Bbc. I confess to having pictures of Mr.Darcy who is the man of my dreams. My mom walked down the aisle to prideandprejudice opening music 2006. Ive read the books and fell deeply for the language. If I could thank Austen I would p&p has brought me so much joy :)

message 26: by Elif (new) - rated it 5 stars

Elif I read P&P when I was sixteen, since then I've been reading it (both Turkish and English texts) again and again. Last year I discovered the BBC version and got obsessed with it too. I've been watching especially the end of fourth episode (when they meet at Pemberley) and the beginning of fifth (the scene Elizabeth playing the pianoforte and what happens after she finds out Lydia's running away at the inn) over and over. I'm 22 now and I don't think I will give up being obsessed with it ever. ;)

Yasa Al-kiyumia I adore it!! Both book and movie.
Since I saw the movie and all I wanted was to read the book. I was looking for it everywhere till at last, my friend found a copy in our school library. Didn't wait for a second to borrow it. I hope I can get my own copy someday.

Louise the awkward moment when I first read the book and so eager to watch the movie...but I think the BBC series is the best...Colin firth is the best Mr. Darcy although Matthew is more handsome on the movie haha...see the obsession *sigh

Definitely ;))

Yasa Al-kiyumia Of course. :) You can't not get caught up with the story.

Kagama-the Literaturevixen Possibly...might have happened. Ahem ;)

Versha What would that mean....?? :)

Jessica I am always obsessed with it! I am always rereading and rewatching the super long movie :P

Louise and the last scene on the movie was cut in UK while it has on the US movie...'the kiss' but I think 'the Dawn' scene is more intense:)

message 40: by Caro (new) - added it

Caro Yes, everytime something remind me of Austen, I re-read P&P or watch the film or serie, and become obsessed for at least one month. I love P&P.

Elif Louise wrote: "and the last scene on the movie was cut in UK while it has on the US movie...'the kiss' but I think 'the Dawn' scene is more intense:)"

I agree with you, it is more Austen :))

Brendon If you're not obsessed by Pride and Prejudice I'm guessing it's because you've never read it. Austen is such an amazing writer, so funny, her characters so real. As a guy whose fave writers are people like Celine , Burroughs, Bukowski, Miller - real macho man angry writers I just couldn't believe now P&P captivated me. She has been treated well by the BBC and UK film/tv makers too. Nothing like a winter Sunday curled up on the couch with my girlfriend, the cats and a duvet swooning over Mr Darcy (it's ok for a man to swoon over a man if he's a Mr Darcy!). Damn it, I'm ditching my current read and going to re-re-re-read P&P starting now! Bx

Megumi Every time I read, or watch the movie or something sparks up a reminder that P&P exists I got totally crazy. I go through phases where I begin searching for things (items, colors, pictures, etc.) that remind me of the characters. For instance I picked up a knitting magazine that has Jane Austen inspired projects and started looking for yarn colors that reminded me or Mr. Darcy!!

message 44: by Beth A. (new)

Beth A. Oh no,you have guessed quite wrong i'm afraid. I tried quite hard to read it and I hate the thing. It is supposed to be satire but I don't find her groups antics particularly amusing.

That is the funniest thing that I have heard in a long time. Thank you for sharing. I love it and I must say that you deserve to own the book :)

Morgan I was thirteen when I first became completely obsessed with it. It's still one of my favorite novels and I'll go back to it when I don't have anything better to read. I'm sure I have most of it memorized by now lol

Lolita Vash wrote: "I have got so much obsessed with Pride and Prejudice so many times that… When ever I read this book or listen to it (Audio book) I go crazy about it…I go on reading or playing my favorite part agai..."

yes, i am steel obsessed with the novel and the movie."Keira Knightly"
i love the characters very much, especially Darcy and Lizzy.
i watch the movie over and over and if i have much time i would read the novel once again.
my friend got mad of me. it is like I'm having Mr Darcy fever.
this movie is the only movie made me cry. and i never cry easily. Jane Austen is genus.

That is so sweet..thats what i do myself some times...

Versha Ok again I read the whole book and now am watching the BBC series...aw..how I love it :)

Jonathan Moran I think there is only one other guy on this page. But, I must say, I absolutely loved this book. I read it for the first time about a month ago, and thought it was awesome.
