Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) August is here, and it's time to pick your own challenges! Anything at all. Books, pages, hours, whatever suits you.

Happy Reading!

Stacie (shorty_320) | 138 comments My challenge is going to be to finish the Seasonal Reading Challenge (for the third time in a row!). As of right now, I have 25 books left to read and I'll be done. Really hope I can do it!

message 4: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) I'm sure you can! Good luck! :)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments Seasonal Reading Challenge? What and where is that?

message 6: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments Ok... I'll get a list of books that I want to finish for this challenge.

Here's a link to the group:

http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/2...

You basically need to read books based on tasks that change every season. I've been participating for a few years now and have only finished twice. Such a challenge, but really fun and enjoyable!

I currently need to finish 23 books by the end of August and I will have finished for the 3rd time!!

Thanks Zakiya!!!

message 9: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) No problem, Stacie! If anyone can do it, I know you can. And I'm totally not just saying that.

MS, it's a fun group, but it causes too much stress for me to really stick to it.

message 10: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments Sounds fun and stressful like you say. I have so many I want to read so that challenge would make want to read even more. I'll take a look and see if I can jump in the next round after I get settled back in here in WI.

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Good luck! I wouldn't be surprised if you shocked us all and read way more than those 12 :)

message 13: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments I hope so. I have the time so I might even surprise myself. I'm wondering how much I will stay with this list.

When the seasonal challenge starts the Fall Challenge everyone should let me know! Looks like a fun challenge. I think if would be fun to try to go through and read books from some of the past challenges. They have some good ideas.

The current challenge ends on august 31st and the fall challenge will begin on september 1st. I'll try to remember to let you know when the tasks for that challenge are posted (usually a couple of weeks before the challenge starts)

Lori Goldstein My August Self Challenge will be:
Unfortunately I didn't get nearly as much reading done between getting ready for the convention referenced below and personal things that came up.

(Between Aug. 14-19 will be attending the 23rd Annual National Sweepstakes Convention in Atlanta, Georgia)

1. To finish at least 2 out of the 4 unfinished e-books on my list.
(Only 1 was completed)
Cast Member Confidential: A Disneyfied Memoir by Chris Mitchell

2. To Read The Following and Complete:
What Remains by Carole Radziwill NOT DONE

A Natural Woman: A Memoir by Carole King
FINISHED

Plus maybe another book or two time permitting
MISCELLANEOUS BOOKS (2)
The Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen
This was an excellent book and would recommend it to everyone as it's a story about the Holocaust but told from a very different and unique point of view.
