I am getting really interested about the fact that there are different versions of this book circulating throughout the world. Maybe all of us, who have alternated versions, could bring together some of the new titles.
I will just start, adding the titles that are to be found in my dutch version. In order to keep it manageable, I will firstly introduce to you the books published since 2000. Plus, in order to keep it simple, I will only list titles that are translated to english.
-2004: Daniel Kehlmann: Measuring the world - 2004: Per Olov Enquist: the book about blanche and marie - 2004: Alan Hollinghurst: The line of beauty - 2002-2004: Javier Marias: your face, tommorrow - Ruben Gallego: White on black - 2003: Ismael Kadare: the successor - 2003: Jhumpa Lahiri: the namesake - 2003: Arthur Japin: in Lucia's eyes - 2001: Phaswane Mpe: welcome in Hillbrow - 2001: Margaret Mazzantini: don't move - 2001: Javier Cercas: soldiers of salamis
I'm stopping here, since I have other stuff to do now. It is quite striking, how much was alternated - I even omitted several titles that weren't translated and I still didn't arrive at the end of the 2000 section yet! It does make for quite a different list and I admit that I even don't know a lot of these titles.
... I really wonder what other books are included in different versions. If you own one, please post some of the alternations here. Also, what do you all think about these alternations after all?
