“Unlike other forms of psychological disorders, the core issue in trauma is reality.”

“When something reminds traumatized people of the past, their right brain reacts as if the traumatic event were happening in the present. But because their left brain is not working very well, they may not be aware that they are re-experiencing and reenacting the past - they are just furious, terrified, enraged, ashamed, or frozen.”

“We experience a Paradigm shift in the space and time from just before that moment we let go of one belief or idea through the moment we securely grab hold a new belief or idea. A Paradigm shift experience is the space and time from the millisecond before we decide to let go of one belief or idea through the millisecond after we securely grab hold of the new belief or idea which is now the new paradigm.
For many, a paradigm shift experience concludes with a new paradigm - PTSD is a treatable medical condition.”

“Ground Zero by Stewart Stafford
At the rim of the abyss,
Among the malignant smoking rubble,
And the plane and body parts,
The traumatised rediscovered their purpose.
In a moonscape of fallen pride, identity, and ambition,
The anonymous saved something of the unsalvageable,
Searchers with sandwiches and coffee in the toxic dust,
Manna from Good Samaritans with unconditional gratitude.
As the lungs struggled to take in air,
The hearts of each participant enlarged,
And found shelter in non-partisan synergy,
Becoming a family of former strangers.
The lesson of the lost was to stay loving and open-hearted,
Not turn away and isolate from life and others,
Even when the scars became unbearable,
Their stolen affection remained a towering beacon from the ruins.
